CALL FOR PAPERS

2016 Conference on CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION, RESEARCH & PRACTICE
(Formerly the Information Security Curriculum Development Conference-InfoSecCD)
Burruss Building #151, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw GA October 8-9, 2016
Hosted by the Center for Information Security Education, Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University

PLEASE NOTE THE DEADLINE FOR ALL PAPERS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 1, 2016.

The Conference on Cybersecurity Education Research and Practice (CCERP) seeks to provide academics, researchers, and practitioners with an opportunity to share their perspectives on the various aspects of innovation in security research, industry best practices and pedagogical developments of interest with teaching and researching faculty members. Papers offering novel research contributions in any aspect of information security are solicited for submission to the 2016 CCERP Conference. The primary focus is on high-quality, original, unpublished research, case studies and implementation experiences.

The event’s primary session will be on Saturday, Oct. 8. Sunday Oct. 9 is reserved for overflow, and the Graduate Research Seminar (if funded).

For authors interested in submitting papers: Papers should have relevance to the teaching, research and practice of information security/cybersecurity. The primary criteria for appropriateness are demonstrated practical relevance and topics of interest to academic researchers and instructors. The conference will include three paper tracks: pedagogy, practice, and student. Note that work in progress papers can be accepted if substantial progress has already been made and completion is expected by the conference date.

We are currently anticipating NSF support through an invited grant which would provide stipends for a select group of students to attend the upcoming CCERP! These stipends will more than cover the cost of traveling to and attending the conference and new graduate research workshop, resulting in a de facto scholarship! As a result of this exciting opportunity, we would like to extend the deadline for student submissions to August 1 , 2016, so please encourage your students to prepare work for submission. We will announce in the coming weeks when we receive formal notice of approval of our proposal.

The National Science Foundation has indicated an intent to support Kennesaw State University’s conference for this year. It will provide funds for stipends for selected participants. As part of a National initiative, the conference will promote the dual themes of Cybersecurity workforce development and Cybersecurity hygiene . Papers are specifically solicited for these themes.

This is a special call for papers for the following events in which you or your students may have an interest:

A Graduate Student Research Workshop to be held at the end of the conference. Fifteen graduate students will be selected to receive $1500 stipends to cover conference and travel expenses. Students will be matched with faculty mentors for a discussion of their research. Students should submit research papers to the conference through the standard submission process. Top papers will be selected for inclusion in the workshop, and students notified by August 15 . While other graduate students may self-select to participate in the workshop, only the top fifteen will receive stipends.

Undergraduate Student Poster Session on Cybersecurity Hygiene and Workforce Development. Undergraduate students are invited to submit short research papers (5 pages max) on Cybersecurity Hygiene or Workforce topics. Accepted students will be invited to create and conduct poster sessions during the conference, with the top 15 undergraduate students receiving $500 stipends to cover the cost of attending the conference.

Our grant will also support keynote speakers and highly qualified research faculty to serve as mentors for these students. These individuals will also receive stipends to support conference and workshop attendance. If you would like to nominate someone, please email us at infosec at kennesaw.edu .
