Job opening: Full Professor of Information Systems
The German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS) is an innovative, state-recognized university located in Heilbronn. Rooted in one of Germany’s strongest economic regions, we strive for a leading position among German business schools. As part of our growth strategy, we hire a Full Professor of Information Systems. The professorship is to be filled by 01 January 2017 (or as agreed):
Qualified candidates will represent this area nationally and internationally in their teaching, research, and practice. Their research focuses on Big Data and Business Analytics and combines data-driven with theory-driven approaches. We expect a strong commitment to pursuing research at the highest level as well as enthusiasm for excellent teaching in our part-time master’s degree programs for working professionals and in our executive education programs.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in the analysis and interpretation of large amounts of data from external as well as internal sources (e.g., social media, CRM or ERP systems) to answer questions relating to e-business/e-government or IT management as well as to the context of social networks. The successful candidate’s research investigates the digital transformation of corporate decision-making and value-creation processes, the development of digital business models, or the management of IT functions in global enterprises. The successful candidate works predominantly quantitatively and is open to research methods such as text mining, web mining, or machine learning. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be able to teach methods courses as well as technical courses.
We expect candidates to have an excellent doctoral thesis, articles in leading national and international journals, both peer-reviewed scholarly publications and practitioner journals, as well as a successful track record teaching in the core area of the professorship, including the ability to teach in English. German “Habilitation” or equivalent post-doctoral work is desirable. Work experience in a context related to the area of information systems and experience in the acquisition of third-party funding are advantageous. Fluency in German is essential.
