*Background of the Project*
A three year Marie Curie Early Career Researcher position funded by the ITN
Circ€uit programme is available within the Advanced Services Research Group
of the Aston Business School. The position is open for an early-stage
researcher (ESR) who is interested in investigating the digital strategies
organisations use in a product-service (servitization) context and
developing concrete guidance for organisations to integrate digital
strategies into the development of product-service offerings. Particular
focal areas of the research include: industry 4.0, digital value creation,
digital transformation, big data, service business model innovation,
manufacturer services.
The appointed researcher will ideally start on 1 October 2016, work at
Aston Business School and will be part of the EC funded Marie Curie Initial
Training Network- Circ€uit. This multi-partner Network is designed to
facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology between 7 leading
European research teams in collaboration with various industrial partners
and the Ellen MacArthur foundation. The researcher will carry out research
at Aston, but will intensively interact with other researchers in Circ€uit
through joint research and participation in Summer and Winter Schools.
The post is for 3 years and the appointed researcher will be expected to
register for a PhD at Aston University, spend up to 3-6 months at partner
institutions of the project and attend training courses arranged by the
partner network.

The successful candidate will need to meet the eligibility criteria of the

Early career researcher should not have a PhD and should have less than 4
years research experience after gaining the qualification that allows entry
into a PhD study. The researcher for this post (ESR 3) must be a citizen or
resident of the European Union and associated countries but must be non UK
citizen, and must not have been working/studying in UK for more than 12 of
the last 36 months.
The successful candidate will also need to meet the eligibility criteria of
the Aston Business School PhD program, full details of which can be found
at http://www.aston.ac.uk/aston-business-school/programmes/
research/phd-in-management/. For applicants from non-English speaking
countries, it is necessary to have taken either the Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL score of 101) or the British Council IELTS test-
score of 6.5.
The monthly salary for this post will be paid in UK Pounds Stirling
equivalent to approximately €3,166.67 gross. In addition, the successful
applicant will receive a monthly mobility allowance for which social
security and taxes will be deducted where appropriate.
