Selected high-quality papers will be invited to be published, after revision and extension, in special issues of international journals.

**** Scope *****
A vast variety of multimedia services like voice, email, instant messaging, social networks, mobile payment and transactions, mobile video conferencing, or video and audio streaming has already shaped the expectations towards current mobile devices, infrastructure, and services. Within the last five years, mobile multimedia has become the accepted standard, driven by developments in end-user devices, radio networks, and backend services. However, many open research questions remain open, from limited battery life to heterogeneous data types, increases in quality of service, context-aware adaptation to the environment, or the ever-present security and privacy issues.
MoMM2016 is the 14th edition in the series of the highly successful International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia.
Recently, MoMM has been held in Brussels (2015), Kaohsiung (2014), Vienna (2013), Bali (2012), Ho Chi Minh City (2011), Paris (2010), Kuala Lumpur (2009), and Linz (2008). This year, Singapore will host MoMM2016. The MoMM conference series has provided opportunities to researchers, graduate students, and industry practitioners to address recent research results and current industry practices in the area of mobile computing and multimedia.

**** Submissions *****
We invite three types of submissions: Full Technical Papers, Short Position Papers, and Demonstrations.
- A Full Paper should provide solid conceptual and theoretical foundation and substantial support for its results and conclusions as a significant contribution to the field.
- A Position Paper is not expected to be theoretically or empirically thorough, but represents an earlier stage of work. Examples are demonstration or prototype work, preliminary user studies, or work in progress, i.e. a report on the latest emerging ideas, approaches, methodologies, systems and application scenarios.
- A demonstration is intended to showcase novel concepts and innovative technologies which are at advanced stage and have already been implemented in working prototype systems. The informal setting of the demonstration session encourages presenters and participants to engage in discussions about presented work, while the accompanying short paper should describe the scientific aspects, concepts or methods underpinning the hands-on demonstration.
Accepted papers and demonstrations from all three categories will be published in the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series.

Dear colleagues:

I share, as instance, the ToC of MISQ 8(4) published in 1984. All titles
and topics are totally natural for MIS people in the industry and academy!
Now, if you review the ToC of MISQ in the last 10-15 years, most papers
are addressed esoteric topics that MIS real people in the industry does
not need, neither is also published in MIS textbooks. So, our discipline
has deteriorated in a discipline where the disciplines of reference are
most important that the MIS core one. Cheers!
Manuel

PS By the way, EDPs (electronic data processing centers) was a core
construct in the past, and now the new modern concept of Data Centers is
totally ignored by our MIS controllers people. The new 2016 MSIS curricula
is also totally biased on managerial topics and ignores and minimizes Data
Centers objects of study and learning. MIS discipline is sick.

If you're looking for research that is natural and relevant to industry, let me suggest you look at MISQ Executive (misqe.org). Back in the 1990s, a group of us led by Jack Rockart at MIT realized that MISQ was not meeting the needs for this type of research, so we created MISQE as a sister journal of MISQ. The TOC of the latest issue of MISQE is below.

Dear colleagues:

I share, as instance, the ToC of MISQ 8(4) published in 1984. All titles and topics are totally natural for MIS people in the industry and academy!
Now, if you review the ToC of MISQ in the last 10-15 years, most papers are addressed esoteric topics that MIS real people in the industry does not need, neither is also published in MIS textbooks. So, our discipline has deteriorated in a discipline where the disciplines of reference are most important that the MIS core one. Cheers!
Manuel

PS By the way, EDPs (electronic data processing centers) was a core construct in the past, and now the new modern concept of Data Centers is totally ignored by our MIS controllers people. The new 2016 MSIS curricula is also totally biased on managerial topics and ignores and minimizes Data Centers objects of study and learning. MIS discipline is sick.

This Professional Development Seminar (PDS) on the subject of Transitions to Academic Leadership is sanctioned by the AIS College of Academic Leadership with the goal of encouraging faculty to undertake academic leadership roles through an open discussion of the opportunities and challenges of leadership.
Many faculty members view academic leadership in their universities with some trepidation while others are very interested in the possibilities is presents. In this forum, we will examine two key transition points in academe ? to Department Head/Chair and to Senior Administration ? with the intent of demystifying the journey from faculty member to academic leader and from the department to the wider university in two panels with experienced academic leaders.

  * Department Chair Panel - 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm Thursday in Executive Centre 3A - Lemuria Carter will moderate with Marie-Claude Boudreau, Timothy Hill and Munir Mandviwalla as panelists
  * Senior Administration Panel - 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Thursday in Executive Centre 3A - Jim Denford will moderate with Michael Ginzberg, Yolande Chan and Craig Van Slyke as panelists

With service as one of the three pillars of being a contributing faculty member, we look forward to a good turnout on Thursday from both experienced administrators and those with curiosity for academic leadership opportunities to discuss this important topic.

Dear colleagues:

On the same track of ideas, the main challenge is to fix (via solving
(optimal solution), dissolving(change goals and eliminate constrains) or
resolvin (satisfactory solution)) the top journals and followers journal
value system to privilege both natural relevant (useful for a sector of
academic and industry MIS people) and valid research in scientific
context.

On asked most influential MIS papers, I estimate that maybe other angle
for attacking this problem can be used:

-- there are: 1) fundamental conceptual research for building a future
domain of applications, 2) fashion research driven by the contemporary hot
topics, and 3) specific research on specific practice problems useful for
a large practitioner community.

--- tops journals and followers ones, should have these 3 categories for
accepting papers, and finally they will be recognized by research
community

--- in other related sciences, rather than papers, we can talk of
artifacts (systems, methods, frameworks or even concepts, terminology
proposed by March and Smith (1995) and enhanced by Hevner et al. (2003,
2004)). For instance, in CSc: the ethernet protocols, the 3D compact code
algorithms, new programming languages, etc, etc

--- in MIS I could identify the following one core contributions:
systematic evaluation methods for IT artifacts through experimental, case
study or survey research methods; design and evaluation of
DSS/GDSS/GSS/EIS core systems for supporting decision-making individual
and group-based ones; economic models applied to quantity the value of MIS
investments and outcomes (ok, this is a good contribution from reference
disciplines); IT systems implementation process models (the whole process
based on Lewin-Schein model); and IT acceptance models (TAM, unified TAM,
ART, etc)).

But, at present, are we producing useful fundamental, fashion-alike and
applied MIS research?

Dear Colleagues,
We now have a slightly expanded panel of scholars who have both academic
and practice experience in the panel. This panel is working towards
developing a broader understanding of "Influence" and once we get all your
nominations, we hope to publish a first list of "Most Influential IS
Papers/Ideas". The panel comprises of

Niels Bj?rn-Andersen - Denmark
Prof. Robert M DAVISON" - Hong Kong
Juhani Iivari - Finland
Murray Jennex - USA
Dennis Galletta - USA
Matti Rossi - Finland
Jeffrey Parsons - Canada
Monica Chiarini Tremblay - USA
Jan vom Brocke - Liechtenstein
Ilia Bider - Sweden
Samir Chatterjee - USA

The panel recognizes that influence seldom can be achieved by a single
paper. Rather influence occurs because certain concept/idea has been vetted
through conference articles, journal articles, books and perhaps by
commercializing those ideas.

Please feel free to submit your own papers (no more than 5) or others work
that you think has had influence. Attached is the form for nomination. We
have so far received about a dozen nominations. Keep them coming. Now is
your chance to tell the world that your work has had influence.

Sincerely,
Samir

Call for Papers - JAIS Theory Development Workshop

Call for Papers for the JAIS-sponsored Theory Development Workshop Associated with ICIS 2016 in Dublin, Ireland.

Dear Colleague:

Since December 2002, the senior editors of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) have organized a number of successful Theory Development Workshops. In 2016, they will hold the 15th JAIS Theory Development Workshop immediately before ICIS 2016. This workshop is scheduled to occur from 1-5:30pm on Sunday, December 11, 2016. The exact location of the workshop will be announced at a later date.

Workshop information

The workshop promotes scholarship that focuses on new theoretical advances in the information systems field. Workshop participants discuss drafts of their theoretical work with JAIS board members, and other workshop participants. The workshop's structure provides opportunity for feedback from other researchers who are also developing theoretical work for future journal submission. Once completed, authors are not obliged to submit their work to JAIS, although the journal is a top-quality outlet that welcomes conceptual, theoretical, and empirical papers. In fact, a number of papers accepted for past workshops have been submitted to the journal for publication consideration each year.

Prior to the workshop, participants whose papers have been accepted will receive one to three papers to read and review. The reviews follow a brief, structured format that allows participants to critique papers of other participants. The reviews offer constructive comments and recommend ways to improve participants' papers.

During the workshop, participants meet in small groups where participants receive feedback from a JAIS board member and provide feedback on others' papers. The JAIS board members facilitate the discussion so that each participant has equal time to receive comments from the group's members. Please consult the JAIS website for the list of senior editors and the editorial board members (http://aisel.aisnet.org/jais/).

Selection for the JAIS Theory Development Workshop is competitive. This workshop only addresses theory building, conceptual foundations, and model development issues. To be considered, a paper must demonstrate significant theory development, with or without data.

Papers currently accepted, under review, or under revision at other journals or conferences should not be submitted.

Application details

The application deadline is Monday, September 12, 2016. Papers should be no more than 35 pages in length (max 8,000 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures), double spaced, and in 12-point Times New Roman font, with citations using APA 6th ed. style citations.

To submit a paper to the workshop, email an electronic copy of your paper in WORD or PDF format (including an abstract and three or four keywords) to tdw-jais at comm.virginia.edu<mailto:tdw-jais at comm.virginia.edu> Include in the body of the email the name, institution, and email address of each author. The review process is double-blind, so any author identifying information should only appear in the body of the submission email (and not in the attached copy of the submitted paper).

We will acknowledge your submission on or before September 13, 2016. If we have not acknowledged your submission by this date, then please contact the JAIS office (jais at comm.virginia.edu<mailto:jais at comm.virginia.edu>) after this date about your submission's status. Individuals selected as participants will be notified on or before October 26, 2016.

The 7th International Conference on Cloud Computing and Services Science,
CLOSER 2017, focuses on the emerging area of Cloud Computing, inspired by
some latest advances that concern the infrastructure, operations, and
available services through the global network. Further, the conference
considers as essential the link to Services Science, acknowledging the
service-orientation in most current IT-driven collaborations. The conference
is nevertheless not about the union of these two (already broad) fields, but
about Cloud Computing where we are also interested in how Services Science
can provide theory, methods and techniques to design, analyze, manage,
market and study various aspects of Cloud Computing.

CLOSER 2017 will be held in conjunction with <http://www.complexis.org/>
