In keeping with the "Innovations in Data Analytics" theme of the ICIS 2016 Conference<http://icis2016.aisnet.org/>, the Association for Information Systems Special Interest Group on Decision Support and Analytics (SIGDSA) is collaborating with the International Federation for Information Processing Working Group 8.3: Decision Support Systems (IFIP WG8.3) and seeking forward-thinking research in the areas of data analytics and business intelligence, with special focus on understanding data-driven business strategies and the challenges associated with establishing organizational best practices in areas such as data storage, management, privacy and security.
Data Analytics have become core to many businesses as they try to derive value from data. Although addressed by research in the past few years, this domain continues to evolve. The explosive growth in big data and social media analytics requires examination of the impact of these technologies and applications on a variety of contextual areas including financial services, manufacturing, retail, pharmaceutical, healthcare, government, marketing, agribusiness and agricultural technology, supply chain, transportation and logistics, as well as the broader global society. As organizations in various sectors formulate IS/IT strategies and investments, it is imperative to understand how various technologies under the data analytics umbrella such as business intelligence, data warehousing, big data and big data analytics, sensor analytics, data and text mining, predictive modelling, decision support, and data visualization contribute to organizational data processing, information and knowledge management and ultimately organizational success.
This research track aims to promote theoretical, design science, behavioral research, case-based approaches and emerging applications in innovative areas of data analytics, business intelligence, big data and decision support. As this pre-ICIS SIGDSA event is a symposium, we encourage submission of early stage research papers that will lead to interesting discussion at the symposium. All the papers will go through double blind review process. We seek comprehensive completed research and research-in-process (RIP) papers in topics including but not limited to:
? Decision Support, Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Knowledge-Driven DSS
? Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Theory
? Data Analytics Technologies and Applications
? Decision Making, Behaviors & Decision Models for Data-Driven Business
? Business Data Analytics, Intelligence & Knowledge Discovery
? Decision making in Project Management
? Data Visualization, Transportation, Logistics & Supply Chain Networks
? Data Analytics & Decision making in Agribusiness, Crop Insurance, and Risk Management.
? Innovative Decision Support Tools and Techniques
? Decision Support for Digital Business
? Opportunities for Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) in the global healthcare ecosystem

? Paper is clearly written.
? Paper is well organized and flows logically.
? Literature review is complete, recent (where important) and relevant.
? Methodology (or proposed methodology) is clearly explained and fit for purpose.
? Analyses are appropriate (if relevant, many RIP paper may not have data for analyses).
? Evidence supports authors' arguments.
? Paper makes contributions to the field, or has potential for contributions.
? Reference list is complete and formatted appropriately.
Completed Research Papers
Completed research papers should have completed analyses and documentation of results. Completed research papers should be similar to journal submissions, but shorter.
Completed research papers must not exceed fourteen (14) single-spaced pages and must conform to the submission template<https://preicis2016sigdsa.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/sigdsa_2016_submission_template.docx>. All text, figures, tables, and appendices must be included within the page limit. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
Authors of accepted papers will have the option of publishing (a) extended abstract (single-spaced 2-3 pages) OR (b) complete manuscript as part of the conference proceedings on AIS eLibrary. If authors choose to publish only the extended abstract, authors will retain copyright of the complete manuscript submitted during the review process for feedback.
Research-in-Progress Papers
Research-in-progress papers typically describe work that is as yet incomplete, but promising. Research-in-progress papers must not exceed seven (7) single-spaced pages and must conform to the submission template<https://preicis2016sigdsa.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/sigdsa_2016_submission_template.docx>. All text, figures, tables, and appendices must be included within the page limit. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
During the conference, select research-in-progress papers will be discussed in a round table format to help shape the research for future publication success and strong impact.
Authors of accepted papers will have the option of publishing (a) extended abstract (single-spaced 1-2 pages) OR (b) complete manuscript as part of the conference proceedings on AIS eLibrary. If authors choose to publish only the extended abstract, authors will retain copyright of the complete manuscript submitted during the review process for feedback.
Journal Publication Opportunity
Papers accepted to the pre-ICIS SIGDSA 2016 symposium will be eligible to be selected for fast track review or special issue at the Journal of Decision Systems<http://www.tandfonline.com/action/journalInformation?show=aimsScope&journalCode=tjds20>. Several of the journal's editorial board members will be at the symposium to provide their feedback to authors of selected papers.
Best Paper Award
One paper from the research track will be selected for the "Best Paper" award recognition.
