THE PAPUA NEW GUINEA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

The Papua New Guinea University of Technology is located in the industrial
city of Lae, the second largest city in Papua New Guinea. The city of Lae
has an airport with flights to any locations in PNG. The University is the
only technological university in the Pacific. It has a main campus and
three amalgamated colleges. The main campus has 14 academic departments
including one Department of Open and Distance Learning (ODL). It offers
undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, natural and applied
sciences, built environment, language and business. The university has an
Information Technology Services department and a Library.

*DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS STUDIES*


The Department of Business Studies offers diploma and undergraduate degree
programs in Business with emphasis in Accounting, Management, Information
Technology, and Business Economics.  It also offers an Executive Masters in
Business Administration (EMBA) program and, is in the process of offering
PhD studies as part of its comprehensive Graduate Business Programs.



*Associate Professor in Information Technology (1 position) *

A doctoral degree in the field of Information Systems or Information
Technology from a recognized university is required for this position. The
successful candidate should have published at least 10 papers in listed,
peer reviewed journals and at least 10 years of full time university
teaching experience or equivalent industrial research experience. The
successful candidate is required to take leadership role in his/her area of
specialization as well as conduct research and teach at both the
undergraduate and postgraduate level. Familiarity with teaching in distance
mode and with using learning management systems such as Google Classroom or
Moodle will be an added advantage. Subjects to be taught by the successful
applicant include Database management systems, Web Technologies, Digital
Business, Enterprise Systems, Enterprise database systems, and Data
Sciences.

*Senior Lecturer **in Information Technology **(2 Positions) (Vacancy
Reference No: A16002, A16004)*

A doctoral degree in the field of Information Systems or Information
Technology from a recognized university is required for this position. The
successful candidate should have published at least 5 papers in listed,
peer reviewed journals and at least 5 years of full time university
teaching experience or equivalent industrial research experience. The
successful candidate is required to take leadership role in his/her area of
specialization as well as conduct research and teach at both the
undergraduate and postgraduate level. Familiarity with teaching in distance
mode and with using learning management systems such as Google Classroom or
Moodle will be an added advantage. Subjects to be taught by the successful
applicant are in the areas of (1) Networking Technologies; data
communication and server services (2) Web Technologies and (3) C++ and Java
or Python as well as mobile apps programming.

Base Salary Range:  Associate Professor           K67,645 – K82,676  per
annum

Base IMA Range           :                                   K67,205 –

annum

K74,643  per annum



Base Salary Range:  Lecturer II                         K45,720 – K55,882
per annum

K63,039  per annum



(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)

Initial contract period is for three years. Benefits include a gratuity of
30% of salary in the first year, 35% in the second year and 40% in the
third year (paid on fortnightly basis), support for approved research,
appointment and repatriation fares for yourself and dependents, book &
equipment allowance of K750.00 per annum, settling-in/out allowance of
K1,700.00 for single & K3,600.00 for accompanied plus K200.00 for each of
two authorized dependent children (under 19 years) on appointment and
repatriation, six weeks paid leave per year, recreation leave fares for
yourself, spouse & two authorized dependents after 18 months of service and
education fares and assistance towards school fees for authorized
dependents are available. Staff members are also permitted to earn from
consultancy up to 50% of earnings annually. Consultancy projects need to be
approved by respective Head of Department and the Vice Chancellor's office.
Free, fully furnished accommodation is provided on campus. All earnings in
PNG attract income tax, the tax rates are progressive and the maximum rate
is 40%.
