Telkom Chair/ Professor in Digital Business

Wits Business School ( www.wbs.ac.za ) - University of the Witwatersrand

The Wits Business School (WBS) is internationally recognised and accredited. It has spearheaded innovation, teaching and research excellence in South African and African business for over 45 years. The school is based in the economic hub of South Africa and is in easy proximity of the country's most vibrant cities. Our faculty come from 12 different countries, are predominantly African, but are also from the US, UK, Holland and Germany. 95% of our full time faculty are PhD qualified, and the majority of our full professors are NRF rated researchers.

We have around 1400 postgraduate students each year and significantly more executive education delegates. The school is at the centre of regular media events and topical debates showcasing opinion leadership from both business and academia.

WBS academics work exclusively with postgraduate students and senior executives. They deliver highly-rated learning, higher degree supervision, accredited research, and opinion leadership on business critical issues.

This post is full time and based in Johannesburg. The Chair is fully funded by Telkom and both the salary and the related research support is highly competitive in order to attract world class candidates. The initial contract and funding runs for 5 years.

Minimum academic requirements for Full Professor:   A PhD in a relevant field of study plus a substantial related publications track record. Research to be international ISI/IBSS-rated journals and equivalent academic books and/or book chapters. A track record of media engagement, sector involvement, entrepreneurship and research fundraising (e.g. named fund holder) and leadership will be a distinct advantage.

This WBS researcher would work exclusively for the Telkom Chair in Digital Business. The initial contract and funding runs for 5 years. This post is fully funded by Telkom and is based in Johannesburg.

Minimum academic requirements: A relevant Masters degree and PhD preferable;
A demonstrable track record of peer reviewed research outputs is essential. A demonstrable track record of research fund raising would be a distinct advantage.
