The Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics (CIS & BSAN) in the College of Business at James Madison University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position, beginning Fall 2017. The ideal candidate would be responsible for teaching networking as well as a variety of topics in the areas of application development, architecture, database, project management, security, and/or business intelligence/analytics.  A PhD in information systems, computer science, analytics, or a closely related field with a strong foundation in business applications is required. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with teaching and industry experience spanning both technical domains and consulting/managerial areas. Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to scholarly research are required. The successful candidate will be expected to regularly engage in service both to the Department and profession.

The CIS & BSAN department at JMU is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

About the Department: The CIS & BSAN Department consists of 25 full-time faculty with over 500 undergraduate students currently enrolled in the AACSB and ABET-accredited CIS major. Additionally, the Department facilitates both Business Analytics and CIS minors, with faculty teaching key courses in the College of Business core curriculum.  CIS & BSAN faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for both outstanding teaching and service. In 2012 and 2013, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked the CIS program among the top ten undergraduate programs nationally. As of 2016, it is ranked #5 by College Factual.

About the College:  The AACSB-accredited James Madison University College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs.  In 2016, Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranked the school's undergraduate program #18 among public universities in the nation, and #41 overall.
