Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems (Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Nine-Month Faculty Position, Beginning Spring/Fall 2017)

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

9 hours (three classes) of undergraduate Computer Information Systems related coursework per semester. Preferred teaching areas include business analytics, introduction to information systems. A strong commitment to effective delivery of student-focused instruction in the classroom is essential.  Delivery of online coursework is beneficial as well. Also expected are continuous professional improvement and accessibility/interaction with students.

  

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should possess an earned doctorate in Computer Information Systems, Analytics, or a closely related field from an AACSB-Accredited school (ABD considered if close to completion). These individuals must have the abilities and skills consistent with teaching excellence as well as evidence of and/or potential for scholarly productivity.

Highest priority is given to applicants with a focus in Business Data Analytics.

 

RANK AND SALARY

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AT NICHOLLS STATE UNIVERSITY

Nicholls State University’s College of Business Administration is a recognized leader in business education in the region. It has maintained AACSB accreditation at the undergraduate and graduate levels since 1983, and since 2005 its accounting program has also been separately accredited by AACSB. The Computer Information Systems program has two professors, one tenure-track assistant professor, and two instructors. The program has an active CIS advisory board and a small student-to-faculty ratio.

 

THE REGION

Nicholls State University is located in the heart of Cajun culture in Thibodaux, LA. It is 50 miles southwest of New Orleans and 60 miles southeast of Baton Rouge. Compared to the rest of the country, Thibodaux’s cost of living is 8.7% lower than the US average. It is ranked as the 19th Most Secure Places to Live in 2011 among Mid-Size Cities. Nicholls State University is also within half an hour drive to the city of Houma, which is widely considered the de facto capital of deep bayou country, and here the many pleasures of the region's robust culture are easily accessible. The city is the jumping-off point for countless charter fishing adventures, birding expeditions and swamp tours along the ecologically rich wetlands stretching out toward the Gulf, while the Native American tribe of the United Houma Nation is headquartered here and hosts frequent cultural events. Boisterous Mardi Gras celebrations consume the city each year. Compared to the rest of the country, Houma’s cost of living is 11.1% lower than the US average
