AMCIS 2017 Call for Papers Commercializing Research for Socioeconomic Development

ICTs in Global Development (SIGGlobDev) Track

NOTE: Authors of best papers in the ​ICTs in Global Development track will be invited to submit revised versions for fast-track review and possible publication in one of the two journals:

DESCRIPTION

Many governments, foundations and universities invest heavily in research activities. Likewise many university professorsspendmostoftheircareeractivelyengagedinresearchactivities. Muchofthisresearchhasthepotentialto impactsocietyandeconomicdevelopmentoutsideacademia. Howevermostoftheseideasnevermakeitbeyondthe university into real world applications where they could contribute to economic growth and impact society.

We believe improved results can be realized through a focused effort to transfer impactful research to the broader community, through technology commercialization efforts in partnership with the private sector. This may involve creating new university affiliated startup companies or licensing these research discoveries to existing companies to improve societal and economic development.

Fit with Track: This mini-track is in harmony with the goal of the track to improve the economic and societal of condition ofcountriesaroundtheworldbyimprovingtheapplicationofinformationsystemsresearch tosolverealsocietaland economicproblemsthroughbettertechnologytransferandcommercializationactivities. Thisactivityhasthepotential to significantly improve the usefulness of our research in addressing global development.

SUGGESTED TOPICS

This mini-track invites papers aimed at understanding or improving research commercialization. Possible topics include:

●  Tutorials for how to better commercialize research

The entire paper should be no more than 5,000 words and no more than 10 pages, including all materials and sections such as figures, tables, and references. All conference submissions will be double-blind, peer reviewed, and must be submitted using the online submission system ScholarOne (Manuscript Central).
