[AISWorld] Question: do we really want to risk turning AIS into a political lobbying organization?

There are other venues through which we can take those grievances. Not all AIS members may disagree with a particular government policy. Do we really want to risk dividing AIS into all the different points of view on all the things that may concern us as humans who also happen to be academics: climate change, immigration, taxes, abortion, energy policy, etc. ...? Or do we want AIS to speak with one voice for the things that concern us all as academics? How many members do we want to risk driving away because they disagree with what may be a slim majority opinion?

If our membership cannot attend AIS-sanctioned events due to poorly thought out political policies, then yes, we certainly do.

Seems to me we should keep AIS focused on the issues that concern us as academics - our research and teaching - and keep government policies on immigration, healthcare, gun rights, taxes, abortion, tariffs, and everything else in the venues where they belong.
