We request you to share this opportunity with your master students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Data Science for public sector innovation at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP) of the University of Lausanne.
The IDHEAP is a distinguished postgraduate institute that prepares students for senior positions in the country’s public and public-private administrations. IDHEAP is accredited by the Swiss Confederation and, at the international level, by the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation. It acts as an independent observer and provider of advice and expertise, called upon by political leaders and the public administration.
Since information technology has become a vital part of today’s society, the effective management of data and information has emerged to a major area of concern for modern public administrations. While technology improved responsiveness, transparency, and accessibility of governmental services, it also considerably grew in complexity, which call for novel, data-driven approaches to governmental decision-making and governance.
We are currently accepting applications of one or two highly qualified students for a research assistant / Ph.D. position at the Information Management research unit of Prof. Mettler. All students with master degrees who are interested in information technology and data science are welcome to apply. Students with degrees in quantitative fields such as Information Systems, Statistics, Public Administration or Computer Science (preferably with a minor in Management) are particularly encouraged to apply. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Proficiency in French and German is an asset. Previous full-time working experience in the public sector is also a plus.
