Overview
The theme - Managing in times of disruption and uncertainty - will underpin ICBMD-2017. The background to the theme is that there are emerging challenges of uncertainty confronting businesses where traditional business models have been ripped apart by the disruptive nature of digital innovation/technology leading to short-term focus. Thus uncertainty in the global economy, uncertainty in the credit markets, uncertainty in how new regulations will affect businesses, uncertainty about what competitors are doing, and uncertainty about how new technology will affect the businesses, just to mention a few. These uncertainties have become the excuse which many companies are using to shy away from long-term planning in favour of short-term results. Although this might feel right, I believe that failure to strategically plan five years into the future can end up destroying business value and erode a nation's economic infrastructure.

The conference invites work in the form of research paper, conceptual paper, case study and technical report addressing contemporary and development issues in management, business, finance, entrepreneurship, tourism and technology. The conference welcomes both theoretical and empirical papers with topics related but not limited to the following subjects:
