Hi Xiaoni,

Can you run an analysis to see the degree to which these smaller firms even have security policies.

For example, QD5b asks if they have a security policy on the scale from 1-9, where 7 and greater is fully deployed. Can you run an analysis that shows what the firms in each of the size categories you show below are? So for <=10, and each of the other categories, what is the distribution of responses, or if that's too hard, what's at least the distribution of responses less than 7 and those 7 or greater?

Thanks, Kevin

Cognitive computing is a new transformational technology and a new
innovative approach for solving some of the challenging issues that we
encounter in practice. Cognitive computing systems and applications learn
to perform better from their interactions with us and with their
environment, reason with purpose, and interact with humans and other smart
systems naturally. Examples of services enabled by cognitive computing that
we already interact with are Apple Siri, IBM Watson, Microsoft Cortana,
Google Go, and Amazon Echo. We are now seeing a significant further
innovation in the development and application of cognitive computing across
almost every industry. Cognitive computing is poised for several helpful
applications in areas such as research and discovery, decision support and
advisory, customer engagement, customer experience management, healthcare,
the Internet of Things (IoT), and cyber security. Companies are seriously
examining how they can benefit from applying cognitive computing in their
organizations in key areas of importance.

This workshop will provide an interactive forum for discussion on recent and
ongoing developments, key issues and challenges, and practices related to
cognitive computing. It will also provide a platform to demonstrate
applications and software tools and present case studies and application
experience. Researchers and practitioners all over the world, from academia,
industry, and government, are invited to participate in the workshop.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

* Cognitive computing systems - technologies, algorithms, and
approaches
* Cognitive computing applications in enterprise, business,
healthcare, education, cyber security, risk management, and in other areas
* Cognitive systems and intelligent virtual assistants
* Cognitive computing and the Internet of Things
*       Autonomous systems and processes
* The impact on human computer interfaces
* The impact on the workforce
* Knowledge capture, access, and reuse with cognitive systems
* Commerce applications for cognitive agent technologies
*       Cloud-centric cognitive computing
* Cognitive computing implications for service innovation
*       Case studies
* Issues and challenges facing adoption of cognitive computing

Designing The Future of eGovernment with IoT The mobileGov World Summit 2017 and the Global mobileGov Awards 7-9 May 2017

be held in Brighton UK, during May 7-9: 'Limits of IoT Intelligence??

The panel explores the relationship between IoT and Artificial
Intelligence and how intelligent could the IoT systems be. Basic
questions it raises are on the limits of current learning mechanisms in
AI that could help making sense of collected large amounts of data
through sensors and converting that ?sense? into intelligent actions.
Some of the topics to discuss include deep learning and resulting
performance in IoT systems.

The panel will be chaired by Prof. I Kushchu and his contribution,
without technical details but practical views, will be based on many
years of Kushchu?s scientific work in Evolutionary AI and
generalisation of learned behaviours and advances mobile technologies,
and will be a critical evaluation of the expected performance from
intelligence of IoT.

We are looking for experts and solution providers who can present ideas
and working examples in IoT and Intelligence; generalised (deep)
learning; current performance, limits and future prospects.

If you are interested please send an email to me or conf at m4life.org
with a brief on your potential contribution to this exciting and
significant topic related to trends in mobile technologies and IoT.

      SCOPE

Business Informatics is the scientific discipline targeting information
processes and related phenomena in their socio-economical business
context, including companies, organisations, administrations and society
in general. As a field of study, it endeavours to take a systematic and
analytic approach in adopting a multi-disciplinary orientation that
draws theories and practices from the fields of management science,
organisational science, computer science, systems engineering,
information systems, information management, social science, and
economics information science. The IEEE CBI 2017 is aimed at creating a
forum for researchers and practitioners from the fields that contribute
to the construction, use and maintenance of information systems and the
organisational context in which they are embedded. To this end, CBI 2017
welcomes submissions from the diverse spectrum of fields that underpin
the field of ?business informatics?. Submissions may fall into one of
three categories:

  * Research papers describing original research contributions
    (theoretical, methodological or conceptual).
  * Practice papers discussing problems or challenges that organisations
(private or public) face, relate them to the wider domain and
provide useful insights to practitioners from similar organisations
    and contexts.
  * Visionary papers introducing new ideas and directions for research
by analysing the current state of the art, identifying the gaps and
issues that need to addressed, introducing an approach as a
potential means to bridge the gaps.

Best papers will be invited to a fast-track of the Springer journal

www.ficloud.org
Welcome to IEEE FiCloud 2017. The Internet of Things (IoT) vision is to provide a dynamic and global network infrastructure which is characterized by intelligent and ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Intercloud aims to create a cloud of clouds in order to enable interconnection between heterogeneous clouds. Objectives are to share resources, support extreme workload, efficiently process big data and place data and compute power closer to places where they are needed more. Intercloud can also minimise the vendor lock-in problem so that users can use services offered by multiple clouds.

Intercloud can be used in a wide spectrum of applications including the IoT. For instance, according to the Cisco's Internet of Things Business Unit, Cisco plans to enhance IoT services through Intercloud in order to localise compute power and data processing where these are needed more - e.g., "sensors on a cargo ship can monitor whether the containers on board have shifted en route or gotten too hot or too cold. All those readings may add up to more data than is economical to send in real time to a data center half a world away via a narrowband satellite link (Computerworld).

The objective of the International Symposium on Intercloud and IoT (ICI) is to discuss and develop new models, methods, and techniques in order to realise the true vision of Intercloud and IoT services. It aims to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners in order to discuss ideas and share knowledge on various issues related to the theme of the symposium.

Topics of the ICI symposium include (but not limited to):

- Architectures and models

- Integration and collaboration

- Network design and architecture

- Software systems

- Data processing and management

- Context-aware service provisioning

- Security, trust and privacy

- Fault tolerance and reliability

- Performance evaluation and modelling

- Network communication protocols

- Rules and policies

- Business models and standards

- Service level agreements

Sharing economy refers to peer-based activities of obtaining, giving, or
sharing the access to goods and services, coordinated through
community-based online services. Sharing economy known as collaborative
consumption that people sharing of services rather than having individual
ownership, which can drive green consumption and sustainable development in
our human society significantly. Furthermore, sharing economy could be
considered as an emerging economic-technological paradigm that is driven by
developments in multiple information technologies, such as simplify sharing
of both physical and nonphysical goods and services through intelligent
systems. As a kind of important information technology, intelligent
automation techniques have been widely applied in sharing economy (e.g.,
Airbnb, Uber, and Amazon Mechanical Turk), and can potentially result in
great impact on citizens? everyday life and generate huge economic
benefits. For example, intelligent automation could find applicability in
multiple areas and disciplines in sharing economy, including (but not
limited to) (1) Optimization in home automation, intelligent and
controllable Internet of Things-enabled systems (i.e., networks of robots
integrated with distributed environmental sensors), which can optimize the
deployment of resources that would be shared and accessed for the benefit
of involved communities; (2) Automatic matching in ridesharing, e.g.,
cloud-based big data analytics and automatic coordination/matching
mechanisms which can be applied to a large pool of drivers and passengers,
and enable them simultaneously diminish cost in similar destinations and
overlapping journeys; and (3) Improving crowdsourcing systems, such as
intelligent filtering of participants, autonomous grouping of temporary
workers, automatic controlling schemes of workflow, and intelligent
algorithms aggregate the contributions from individuals automatically,
which can improve efficiency, effectiveness, and intelligence in
crowdsourcing systems. Accountable autonomous operation, human centered
automation, cloud robots, security and privacy, and other methodologies,
innovations, and technologies which can facilitate intelligent automation
in sharing economy are also welcome. The main objective of this special
issue aims to involve multidisciplinary research contributions on the state
of the art of intelligent automation and its potential applications in

Call for Contributions

Deadline Extension for all Contribution Types to March 30, 2017

8th International Workshop on

Enterprise Modelling and Information Systems Architectures (EMISA'17)

co-located with the 29th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE) June 12-13, 2017 - Essen, Germany

https://hu.berlin/emisa17

///////////////////////////////////////////////////

The strategic importance of enterprise modelling has been recognized by an increasing number of companies and public agencies. Enterprise modelling delivers the 'blueprints' for co-designing and aligning business and enterprise information systems such that they complement each other in an optimal way. As example consider the support of business processes by process-aware information systems. Achieving such interplay requires a multi-perspective approach taking organizational, economic, and technical aspects into account. In a world of cloud, social and big data, additional challenges for enterprise modelling and the design of information systems architectures are introduced, e.g., in respect to the design of data-driven processes or processes enabling cross-enterprise collaboration. To deal with these challenges, a close cooperation of researchers from different disciplines such as information systems, business informatics, and computer science will be required.

EMISA 2017 is the eighth international workshop in a series that provides a key forum for researchers and practitioners in the fields of enterprise modelling and the design of information system (IS) architectures. The workshop series emphasizes a holistic view on these fields, fostering integrated approaches that address and relate business processes, business people and information technology. The workshop is open for a broad range of subjects. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

* Enterprise modelling: languages, methods, tools

* Patterns for enterprise modelling

* Patterns for information systems architectures

* Model life cycle management

* Model evolution

* Model configuration and model variants

* Model quality: metrics, case studies, and experiments

* Process modelling and process-aware information systems

* Collaborative enterprise modelling

* Model-driven architectures

* Model-driven IS development

* Component- and service-oriented software architectures

* Service engineering and evolution

CALL FOR PAPERS
International Workshop on Very Large Internet of Things (VLIoT 2017)

In conjunction with VLDB 2017

August 28, 2017, Munich, Germany
Submission: April 3, 2017 - Only one week left!!!

Web: http://www.ifis.uni-luebeck.de/~groppe/vliot
********************************************************************

** Aims of the Workshop **

An increasing number of real-world objects are becoming accessible and manageable through the Internet. According to CISCO, the number of these devices will reach 50 billion by 2020, forming a very large Internet of Things (VLIoT). This massive number of "smart" objects will cooperate with each other, have their own metadata, and may continuously produce new data (in form of events, sensor data, or actuator states). Data management will be a major challenge in the very large Internet of Things. Hence, efficient IoT infrastructure and technologies must be developed to handle masses of IoT data with high performance. This will include: new techniques to filter and store relevant data; efficient replication approaches for objects with constrained resources in order to increase availability and durability; new protocols for voting about decisions among objects; and smooth integration of heterogeneous objects.

The goal of this workshop is to bring together academic researchers and industry practitioners working in the field of IoT and to allow them to report and exchange their findings addressing these challenges. This workshop also intends to discuss other closely-related technologies such as Nanotechnology, Fog-, Edge-, and Dew-Computing for IoT. The ideas of Fog, Edge and Dew Computing may indeed solve or attenuate the problems of a very large Internet of Things (w.r.t. performance, energy-efficiency, as well as security and privacy aspects).

** Types of Papers **

The workshop welcomes contributions describing original ideas, promising new concepts, and practical experience. In particular, we solicit papers of different types:
  - Research Papers proposing new approaches, theories or techniques related to Internet of Things, including new data structures, algorithms, whole systems, and frameworks. They should make substantial theoretical and empirical contributions to the research field.
  - Experiments and Analysis Papers focusing on the experimental evaluation of existing approaches including data structures and algorithms for Internet of Things and bring new insights through the analysis of these experiments. Results of experiments and analysis papers can be, for example, showing benefits of well-known approaches in new settings and environments, opening new research problems by demonstrating unexpected behavior or phenomena, or comparing a set of traditional approaches in an experimental survey.
  - Application Papers reporting practical experiences on Internet of Things applications. Application papers might describe specific application domains in the IoT such as smart homes/offices/cities, continuous health care, waste management, emergency response, intelligent response, and Industry 4.0.
  - Vision Papers identifying emerging or future research issues and directions, and describing new research visions in the IoT area that may have a great impact on our society.

Internet of Things: Privacy and Security Implications

Mohamed A Eltayeb (Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs, CO, USA)

In the contemporary world, we are surrounded by a complex network of
interconnected sensors. These allows us to share, collate, transmit, and
store vast amounts of data. These systems are known as the Internet of
Things (IoT), and this technological offering has attracted a large amount
of interest from academics, researchers, and developers in recent years due
to its highly scalable and agile nature. However, while the IoT delivers
significant benefits, it also poses some risks. The data that is stored and
exchanged via the IoT is extremely valuable to individuals who have
malevolent intent. In more recent years, the increasing popularity of the
IoT as a means of sharing information has been associated with privacy and
security risks that have undermined users' trust in the IoT. This paper
examines what these risks are and some of the actions that can be taken to
mitigate them.

A Security Framework for Enhancing User Experience

Van Nguyen (Department of Computer Science, Saint Leo University, Saint
Leo, FL, USA), Marwan Omar (Department of Computer Science, Saint Leo
University, Saint Leo, FL, USA), Derek Mohammed (Department of Computer
Science, Saint Leo University, Saint Leo, FL, USA)

In this paper, we present a novel framework that enhances user experience
for their daily computing activities while being protected from cyber
threats. The conceptual security framework also targets two additional
goals: enabling end-users to experiment software applications before making
a decision for a real installation, and serving as a testing environment
for both research scholars and security practitioners to analyze and
predict potentially malicious activities. The framework introduces three
modes of operations (full lockdown, partial lockdown, and administration)
and a virtual storage that provides a safe, secure, and reliable computing
environment for end-users. We also present three use cases that show the
applicability of their framework in a real-world environment.

Protecting Data Confidentiality in the Cloud of Things

Bashar Alohali (School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Liverpool
John Moores University, Liverpool, UK), Vassilios G. Vassilakis (Department
of Computer Science, University of York, York, UK)

Following the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology
worldwide, the integration of the IoT to the cloud, referred to as the
Cloud of Things (CoT), has become essential for easy access and management
of remote resources. However, security and malicious intrusions must be
seriously considered to ensure network reliability and data
confidentiality. In this paper, the authors analyze the security
implications of CoT and propose a solution for data confidentiality. They
prove that the proposed solution can effectively protect against a number
of security attacks.

Tails Linux Operating System: Remaining Anonymous with the Assistance of an
Incognito System in Times of High Surveillance

Maurice Dawson (University of Missouri-St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, USA), Jose
Antonio C?rdenas-Haro (California State University, Bakersfield, CA, USA)

After the information released by Edward Snowden, the world realized about
the security risks of high surveillance from governments to citizens or
among governments, and how it can affect the freedom, democracy, and peace.
And organizations such as WikiLeaks has shown just how much data is
collected to include the poor security controls in place to protect that
information. Research has been carried out for the creation of the
necessary tools for the countermeasures to all these surveillance. One of
the most potent tools is the Tails system as a complement of The Onion
Router (TOR). Even though there are limitations and flaws, the progress has
been significant, and we are moving in the right direction. As more
individuals and organizations fall under a watchful eye on their Internet
activities then maintaining anonymity it not only essential for getting out
information but one's safety.

On the Beautiful Big Island
Given the current turbulent state of world economy, outsourcing is coming under tremendous pressure. Companies are no longer providing long-term contracts but are renewing them based on deliverables from outsourced companies. This is putting tremendous pressure on teams to deliver quality product on time. Team adaptability and team configuration are becoming crucial to meet deadlines. Teams must be able to adapt quickly to the changing environment. Agile teams adapt and deliver quickly and provide maximum customer satisfaction. By definition, however, agile teams must be co-located. Can distributed teams be agile and adaptable? This requires careful team configuration. This mini-track examines the emerging issues related to team configuration and performance in distributed environment. Some research related to outsourcing of structured tasks has been done, but research related to emerging issues like diversity, cohesiveness, agility and adaptability related to group collaboration across semi or unstructured tasks is still emerging. In addition, the "e (Internet)" to "m (mobile)" transformation is creating exciting opportunities for groups to make real time decisions in a mobile environment.
Distributed teams, however, face many challenges of time, location, infrastructure, language, customs, socialization and politics. This is further compounded in globally distributed teams by diversity, nationality and cultural issues. As old issue are resolved, new challenges emerge that require knowledge from multiple disciplines such as information systems, social sciences, international management, leadership and political science. It is almost impossible for one individual to have expertise in so many domains, which makes this a very challenging but ultimately rewarding collaborative area of research. Given the richness and research potential of this area, it is essential to brainstorm and bring diverse points of view to develop underlying theory and frameworks. The mini track will attempt to accomplish these objectives.
The mini track will address emerging issue such as diversity, culture, adaptability and agility related to teams in distributed group decision making, as well as the underlying theories of group dynamics, coordination, communications and decision-making in distributed environments, in creation of competitive advantage. Examples of topics in the discussion of globally distributed decision making mini-track will include the following (but are not limited to):

Dear colleagues,

Please consider visiting Essen, Germany in June 2017 and participating in

3rd International Workshop on Socio-Technical Perspective in IS
development (STPIS'17)
planned for 13th of June 2017

*The deadline for submissions: 3**April 2017*

The main */purpose /*of the workshop is to arrange */discussions /*on
using a socio-technical perspective in IS development, the long term
goal being to make this workshop a/*meeting place for the community of
IS researchers and practitioners*/ interested in the socio-technical
approach.

Following the purpose, only part of the workshop is devoted to
presentations, the rest is designated for collaborative work. This year
we will be working on a real case from the industry to be prepared by
our local chairs.

Attached to CAiSE'17 conference http://caise2017.paluno.de/

Full description see at http://stpis2017.blogs.dsv.su.se/

Short description is presented below
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite that a socio-technical perspective has been around for over a
half century, it is often forgotten in the Information Systems (IS)
discourse today. Consequently, many ?new approaches? appear to reflect
on IS systems problems, such as modern IT systems poorly adjusted to the
external or/and internal environment (e.g. market, organizational
culture) of organizations in which they are (to be) deployed. We
strongly believe that it is high time the social-technical perspective
took its proper place in IS research, practice and teaching.

The main purpose of the workshop is to arrange discussions on using a
socio-technical perspective in IS development, the long term goal being
to make this workshop a meeting place for the community of IS
researchers and practitioners interested in the socio-technical approach.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

     Case studies using socio-technical approach
Information system design using socio-technical approach
Socio-technical comparative studies of technology/IS adoption
Socio-technical analysis, design, development and integration of
     ? health care systems
     ? crisis management systems
     ? information security management systems
     ? learning systems
     ? privacy enhanced technology
Societal Security from a socio-technical perspective
Ethnographic and Anthropological aspects of IS design and adoption
IT business alignment from a socio-technical perspective
Using Viable System Model (VSM) for analysis and design of
socio-technical systems

We invite submissions of short and long papers and multi-media materials
in the following categories:

     Position papers
     Idea papers
     Experience reports
     Research papers
Multi-media. Besides papers, we accept submissions in form of
multi-media materials, for example, recorded video or animated
presentation, describing industrial experience of using socio-technical
perspective for IS analysis or development. In case of acceptance, an
extended abstract is published in the workshop proceedings, while the
multi-media material itself or a link to it is placed on the workshop site.
