Final Call for Papers

Energy Informatics & Management (EIM 2017) hosted by the Erasmus Energy Forum

We invite you to submit your research paper (or research-in-progress) to the fifth annual Conference on Energy Informatics & Management (EIM 2017), organised by the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.

The goal of this conference is to engage academic researchers in a dialogue that examines the future of energy business, and in particular, how energy informatics can foster energy efficiency and enable the transition to a sustainable energy landscape. Papers co-authored by academic and industry partners are particularly welcome, along with case studies showing the application of energy informatics to solving management problems.

The conference gives authors of submissions to the BISE Special Issue on "Smart Cities and Digitized Urban Management" with an energy or transportation focus the opportunity to receive feedback on their drafts from the guest editors before submission. Please submit your drafts as regular papers to the conference with a note that you intend to submit to the special issue. The page limit is waived for these submissions.

Topics

Research may take a behavioural, economic, engineering or computer science approach, and may be either empirical or conceptual. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to:


*         IS for supporting the generation, transmission, and distribution of renewable energy

*         IS for the management of energy grids

*         Business opportunities of smart meter data streams

*         Decision support systems highlighting sustainability issues

*         Carbon reduction and emission trading

*         Energy Supply Chain

*         Electric equipment planning in logistics

*         Energy efficiency in the shipping/logistics industry

*         The role of information systems in energy policy

*         Electric Vehicles: charging algorithms, behavioural aspects, etc.

*         Energy storage systems

*         Electricity markets

*         Energy data analytics

*         Demand response

*         Source shaping and geographical diversity

*         HCI for energy monitoring, pricing, management, and awareness

*         IS-based behavioural intervention techniques for energy saving
Submission Guidelines

Submissions must conform to the following format:



*         Single-spaced throughout, single column, including abstract, references and footnotes

*         12 point Georgia font, with a 2.5 cm margin on all four sides

*         APA citation and bibliography style
We accept two types of submissions:

Paper: Please submit up to 6 pages (waived for intended submissions to BISE special issue) in the format described above. Papers will be peer reviewed by at least two knowledgeable reviewers. Accepted papers are invited for presentation during the Science Day (28 June). Accepted papers are also welcome to prepare a poster for presentation during the Business Day (29 June). Rejected papers may also be invited to prepare and present a poster.

Poster: Please submit a self-designed poster (DIN A1) and up to 1 page explaining the poster in the format described above. Poster submissions will get a fail or pass notification by the programme chairs. Posters will be presented during both Science Day (28 June) and Business Day (29 June).

At least one author of each submission is required to attend the conference in person to present the paper and/or poster.
