Research Fellow in Contemporary Software Development Methods (with a specific focus on open source/inner source and agile/lean)

Salary: €52,716 to €57,442 p.a.

Description:

The Research Fellow will work in a team of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students under the supervision of Prof Brian Fitzgerald, Director of Lero, based at the University of Limerick (UL). The team's research focuses on contemporary and emerging approaches to software development, in particular open source, inner source, crowdsourcing, and agile/lean software development methods. The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting empirical research with industry partners. The Research Fellow is expected to publish in the top-tier outlets in software engineering and/or information systems, and must have a strong publication record as well as excellent writing skills.

The Research Fellow must have a good understanding of the needs of both academic and industry audiences and is also expected to actively initiate and participate in new research funding opportunities, such as the development of research proposals. A prior track record of research proposal writing is desirable. He/she will collaborate primarily with Lero researchers in the University of Limerick and NUI Galway. The Research Fellow may also be involved in a co-supervisory capacity for the PhD students in this team, and as such possession of strong supervision skills is desirable.
