Four Positions as Assistant or Associate Professor in Business Information Systems

The IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for four open job positions as Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Business IT. The proposed starting date is Autumn 2017 or Spring 2018.

The IT University of Copenhagen's (ITU) vision is to create and share knowledge that is profound and leads to groundbreaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity. In pursuit of this vision, ITU invites applications for multiple positions as Assistant/Associate Professors in Business IT.

About ITU and the Department Of Business IT
The Business IT Department at ITU is a vibrant and innovative group of interdisciplinary scholars including a world-class Science and Technology Studies research group called Technologies in Practice (TIP) coordinated by Associate Professor Brit Ross Winthereik and a rapidly developing Technology, Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship (TIME) research group lead by Professor Roman Beck. Both research groups actively participate in the research community, hold senior editorial positions at top-tier disciplinary journals; participate in thought leadership groups, forums, and academic conferences; give keynote speeches and hold leadership roles in professional societies. The Department's three educational programs, Global Business Informatics (Bachelor), Digital Innovation and Management (Masters), IT Management (Professional Masters), are the most sought of their type in Denmark and consistently attract outstanding student talent. The ITU is housed in an attractive state-of-the-art building, just 3-kms from Copenhagen's city center and within a 30-minute commute to Sweden. Job description
The new Assistant/Associate Professors are expected to teach and contribute to research in Information Systems. Especially sought after are faculty with expertise in the areas of Strategy Structure and Practice, Organizational Impacts of IT (including IT Governance), IT Project Management, Digital Change Management (including Risk Management), Enterprise Architectures, Computer Security, Innovation and Business Foundations, Service Design, the Economics of Information Systems, Data Analytics, IT Business Process Modeling and Conceptual Modeling. Scholars with impact and a track record in other areas of Information Systems, including those applying Science and Technology Studies methods in the study of Information Systems, are also welcome to apply.

The Assistant/Associate Professors are expected to engage with, develop, supervise, and contribute to research and teaching related to the listed areas, this might also include the development of new curriculum, and new research across and beyond the current established directions. Moreover, an Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to build external collaboration in joint research projects with partners outside and within academia.

Qualification Requirements
Individuals should be willing to teach courses in Information Systems including core courses like Systems Design and Implementation, Databases, Project Management and Requirements Analysis, as well as courses supporting emerging areas, such as in Business Analytics, Information Visualization, Service Design or CSCW. Preference will be given to applicants conducting research in areas that are complementary with the interests of the existing faculty.

Applicants should address the bullet points below as selection criteria or, in the case of Assistant Professor, develop plans for the below-mentioned directions. With respect to the research outputs, it should be documented that the applicant is internationally recognized or contributes significantly to the development of an emerging research agenda.


  *   Publications of research with international impact in Information Systems
  *   Developing research collaborations, relationships with key international partners
  *   Supervise Ph.D. students
  *   Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)
  *   Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  *   A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example, participation in committees, etc.

In addition, candidates for the position as associate professorship should be able to:

  *   Attract external research funding

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 70 full-time academics. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

The assistant professorship is a temporary position for up to 4 years with the possibility of extension. The position requires academic qualifications at Ph.D. level.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance's agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

  *   Documentation of pedagogical experience and teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position
  *   For the position as associate professor: documentation of both a) received observation and feedback on teaching, b) pedagogical training courses as a teacher, c) a formal written assessment of teaching competence and d) a teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position

The applicant will be assessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of 25 April 2008.

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In the case of shortlisting, the head of department selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
