Pedro Soto-Acosta, Juan-Gabriel Cegarra-Navarro, and Alexeis Garcia-Perez present this special issue which compiles recent work that informs researchers and practitioners on key areas defining the role of Enterprise Social Media in fostering KM and Innovation in SMEs. In doing so, this special issue provides a platform for presenting innovative findings and ideas for KM and related fields. ISM places a high value on article content that communicates advanced practices to address current IS management challenges and innovative applications of new, but proven, information technologies. The methodological orientation is towards field research informed by published literature, but primarily based on case study, surveys, and field experiences of IS experts.
