Open Position: Hilti Chair for Data and Application Security, University of Liechtenstein

The University of Liechtenstein invites applications for the new Hilti Chair for Data and Application Security at the rank of full professor. The chair is an endowed chair located at the Institute of Information Systems. While the chair will benefit from its relations to Hilti as a leading global company (see: www.hilti.com) the chair will be independent in all its activities. Applicants must have superior academic credentials, including a record of scholarly impact evidenced by journal and conference publications, excellent teaching ability, and a record in professional academic and institutional service.

The chair will have the opportunity to build a world-class research group focusing on data and application security in one of the most livable and beautiful areas of Europe. Liechtenstein is a prosperous highly entrepreneurial economic area in the heart of Europe. The dynamic alpine micro state is home to people from over 100 nationalities, and the country has one of the highest gross domestic products per capita worldwide. It has a diversified economy focusing on both product and service innovation, and it is home to headquarters of leading international companies as well as a lively scene of start-up companies (see: www.liechtenstein.li).

The chair will and leading a major in Data and Application Security as part of our information systems master`s program and is expected to conduct high quality research and publish in internationally renowned academic journals. The chair will further be expected to develop strong ties to the regional industry through intensive knowledge transfer, and to develop a strong portfolio of executive education in data and application security.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: development and assessment of strategies and policies for data and application security, predictive modeling in forensics, malware detection, development of secure, embedded platforms, secure public cloud computing, secure network computing, security engineering and application development, and security protocols and organizational processes. Technologies like blockchain, machine learning, and advanced encryption will be part of the research portfolio of the Hilti Chair for Data and Application Security. Good knowledge of the German language will allow the candidate to successfully engage with our regional partners, and we expect candidates who do not speak German to learn the language within a period of three years.
