The Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno (Nevada), invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  The appointment(s) will begin on January 2018 or August 2018.

The College of Business at Nevada is accredited by the AACSB for both its business and accounting programs.  The college has approximately 75 full-time faculty members offering strong and cohesive undergraduate and graduate degree programs with 12 different majors available for undergraduate students, including a major and minor in Information Systems.  Faculty from different disciplines work together to study exciting and challenging topics, resulting in interdisciplinary publications and relevant course content.  The college also offers an MBA and 4 specialized master's degrees, one of which is in Information Systems.  The college has a doctoral degree program in Economics. We are seeking academic professionals who will conduct and publish research related to information systems and who are dynamic and passionate teachers able to explain advanced computer concepts to undergraduate and graduate (master's degree) students. Candidates should be able to develop courses requiring hands-on technical skills and teach upper-division or graduate-level courses in two or more of the following areas:  programming, web development, data communications/networking, systems analysis and design, project management, database management, or cybersecurity.  Responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, producing quality publications in peer-reviewed journals, and participating in university and other service activities.  A top candidate should have interest in pursuing grant opportunities to support scholarship.  One of the positions is dedicated to an academic professional specializing in either cybersecurity or data analytics.

Reno has been called America's adventure place for its scenic beauty.  Crystal clear Lake Tahoe is a 45-minute drive to the west, the barren Black Rock Desert (home to the Burning Man festival) is a 2-hour drive to the Northeast, and Yosemite National Park is a 3-hour drive to the South.  This diverse geography offers outstanding opportunities for hiking, camping, mountain biking, and boating.  In addition, there are many world class downhill and cross-country skiing areas within an hour's drive.  Reno offers many cultural entertainment opportunities, including theater companies, a chamber orchestra and a symphony orchestra. There is an international airport located in Reno.   San Francisco is a 4-hour drive or 40 minute flight to the west.

Qualifications

Required: Ph.D. in information systems or closely related discipline from an accredited university.  PhD must be completed by appointment date.

Preferred:  University-level teaching experience.  Evidence of industry experience in information systems.
