*CALL FOR PAPERS*

As part of its pre-ICIS Workshop on “Location Analytics and the Competitive
Advantage of Place: Theory and Practice”, the Special Interest Group on
Geographic Information Systems (SIGGIS) of the Association for Information
Systems (AIS) seeks theoretical and empirical research papers focusing on
location analytics theory, applications, and practice – especially as they
relate to areas of research interest in Management Information Systems.


Rapid expansion in analytics and big data technologies along with the
concomitant explosive growth in the production and availability of
geographically referenced data from a plethora of geotagged sensors,
wearables, household devices connected to the internet, and mobile phones
motivate new and interesting research questions and spur research agendas
pertaining to location analytics. Examples include but are not restricted
to management and analytics for spatial big data, spatial knowledge
management, theory development, cloud-based GIS, spatial crowdsourcing,
spatial workforce, behavioral research, geo-design, privacy and security
aspects, mobile location-based applications, and new and emerging areas
such as locational patterns and consumer behavior in traditional economies
as well as sharing/collaborative-consumption based economies.

Manuscripts focusing on theory, methodology, applications, behavioral
studies, case studies, and emerging areas in Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) and location analytics are welcome in the following areas:

·         Investment in and benefits of GIS, spatial BI, or location
analytics

·         Managerial concerns in location analytics

·         Ethical aspects of GIS and spatial decision-making

·         GIS workforce, training, and education

·         Quality measures and evaluation of spatial systems

·         Systems and software development of GIS

·         Crowdsourcing and public domain sources of spatial information

·         Emerging areas in spatial science and technologies

·         GIS and location analytics for the sharing economy

·         Location analytics for ridesharing and other sharing economy
platforms

·         Descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive location analytics for
Small and Big Data



Authors are encouraged to clearly identify and articulate the role of
location or place in the research questions.


*IMPORTANT DATES:*


   - Deadline to submit papers: October 15, 2017 (no later than midnight
   PST).
   - Author notification of paper acceptance: November 1, 2017 (no later
   than midnight PST).
   - Final papers due:  November 15, 2016 (no later than midnight PST).



*PAPER FORMAT, SUBMISSION, REVIEW, PUBLICATION, and PRESENTATION:*



·         Papers should not exceed 6,000 words including all text,
abstract, figures, tables, references, and appendices.

·         Papers should conform to the ICIS 2017 submission template
available at
https://icis2017.aisnet.org/submissions/submission-instructions-2/.

·         All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed.

·         Completed papers should be submitted to Dr. Dan Farkas, Chair of
SIGGIS, and Professor, Seidenberg School of CSIS, Pace University NY, by
email: dfarkas at pace.edu. Please use “Pre-ICIS SIGGIS 2017 Workshop:
Research Paper Submission” in the subject line of your email submission.

·         Papers will be published as part of Proceedings of SIGGIS 2017
pre-ICIS Workshop at http://siggis.wikispaces.com/.

·         At least one author must register and attend SIGGIS 2017 pre-ICIS
Workshop on “Location Analytics and Competitive Advantage of Place: Theory
and Practice” to present the paper. Paper presentation is tentatively
scheduled as part of the Workshop on Sunday, December 10, 2017, 1:30 – 2:20
pm.
