In the course of our research projects around Semantic Data Integration
and Privacy, we have a new Project Staff Member position (for a 30 hours
pre-doc, or 20 hours master student) in #Semantic #DataManagement,
Enterprise #LinkedData, #Privacy, #DataScience.
We offer a great working environment in a strong and well-known research
group in the area of Semantic Web, Data Management, Linked and Open data
(for instance recognised by being the hosts of ISWC2017 this year, the
biggest conference in this area.

is currently inviting applications for a
a 30 hours/week Project Staff Member position (Teaching and Research
Associate position, pre-doc,employee subject to the terms of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r
gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten;
minimum gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 2,048.25,
recognition of previous employment - if relevant to the advertised
position - possible)
or
a 20 hours/week Project Staff Member position (Teaching and Research
Assistant position, employee subject to the terms of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß
Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; minimum
gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 978.00).
This employee position will be limited to a period from October 1, 2017
(commencement date subject to change) until March 31, 2020.
Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan,
the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an
employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already
employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed
for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who have
already been employed at WU in a Teaching and Research Associate
position can only be re-employed in an Assistant Professor, tenure track
position.
Pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, only students who have
not yet completed a master or diploma degree program can be employed.
Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan,
student employee positions are limited to an employment period of not
more than two years.
Responsibilities:
The candidate is either going to be employed as a research assistant
(master student) or as a research associate (PhD student), depending on
the qualification, cf. Different profiles outlined below. The candidate
is expected to conduct research under the supervision of the principle
investigator Prof. Dr. Axel Polleres within one of our research
projects, in the course of which we will conduct research on data
management, security and privacy mechanisms for Linked Data, with a
particular focus on scalable integration, enrichment, querying,
policy-based access control and encryption in the context of Linked Data
and event streams.
Your Profile:
Project Staff Member (Teaching & Research Assistant): this type of
candidates must be pursuing an ongoing master degree in computer
science, information systems, business informatics (or a related field
of study), practical or theoretical experience in at least one of the
following topic areas is a prerequisite:
knowledge representation & reasoning
linked data
data mining and machine learning
databases
distributed systems
semantic web
software engineering
graph theory/graph databases
machine learning
big data management (scalability, streams, integration of
heterogeneous data sources)
We expect excellent study results, technical knowledge of programming
languages such as C++, Java or Python, structured data formats such as
JSON, XML and RDF, and query languages such as SQL, SPARQL, etc.
proficiency in English.
