The Department of Information Systems, Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applicants to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for the Fall 2018 semester (see full description below).

Description: The Sam M. Walton College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level to teach in the Information Systems department to begin August 2018.  The typical teaching load for tenure-track faculty is four classes each year thereafter, usually with no more than 2 course preparations per year (i.e., a 2-2 teaching load). Assistant Professors teach three courses per year for the first three years (which could all be taught in one semester depending on the individual's preference and departmental needs). The courses taught could be a mix of graduate and undergraduate courses, and a mix of face-to-face and online courses, as needed. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive. Required Qualifications:  Applicants must be Scholarly Academic per AACSB accreditation standards which includes completion of a doctorate in information systems or a closely related field, prior to the position start date, from a nationally or internationally accredited university. Associate Professor candidates should have an established publication record in excellent peer-reviewed information systems or related field journals, whereas Assistant Professor candidates should demonstrate an ability to publish in such journals. Associate Professor candidates should have an established record of teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, whereas Assistant Professor candidates should demonstrate promise of such teaching excellence. Teaching a broad range of information systems courses at various levels is important.  Some of the specialized areas in which our faculty members may be expected to teach include business analytics, enterprise resource planning, database, and enterprise systems.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preference will be given to candidates who have documented excellence and experience in teaching and an interest in both face-to-face and online course delivery.  Special consideration will be given to prior experience and expertise in teaching courses focused on database/data Warehouse/data, analytics, enterprise systems, and enterprise resource planning.  We would prefer candidates with a demonstrated record of or interest in publishing in leading information systems journals, such as MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research (ISR).


The Information Systems Department: The department has eleven tenured or tenure-track faculty members, including five professors who hold positions with endowments, in addition to three clinical faculty members, a full-time executive in residence, and several instructors.  The department has been ranked consistently in the top-5 among business schools for publication activity in Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly. Faculty research interests include: IT personnel; privacy, security, and ethics; IT training and education; e-commerce; IS strategy and IT investments; social networks; enterprise systems; big data and analytics; software development, decision making and decision aids; mobility; and technology adoption. The Information Systems Department has an active research-oriented Ph.D. program, a Master of Information Systems program, Graduate Certificate, and a BSBA major in Information Systems. The department has a world-class Enterprise Systems Program that gives our students experience with industrial-strength technology systems, thanks to more than $60 Million in gifts from our technology platform partners- IBM, Microsoft, SAP and Teradata. Enterprise Systems also hosts a number of databases including Acxiom, Dillard's, Nielsen, Tyson Foods and Sam's Club and receives support from prominent companies such as J. B. Hunt, Tyson Foods and Walmart.

The Sam M. Walton College of Business: The Sam M. Walton College of Business has more than 6,000 students. The Walton College has an innovative cross-functional business core program that focuses on business processes, and several new cross-disciplinary minors and concentrations. The University of Arkansas has a total enrollment of more than 27,000 students.
