minitrack on 'Cultural Issues in IS' (SIG CCRIS; SIG Culture) of the 
2018 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2018), which will 
be held on August 16-18, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. The call for this 
minitrack is provided below, as well as general instructions*.**-

SIGs CCRISS and Culture Call for Minitrack Proposal

*Title of Track*: Cultural Issues in IS

*Sponsoring SIGs*: SIG CCRIS; SIG culture

*Description of Track*: This track intends to gather researchers and 
doctoral students who conduct research and publications related to 
culture in IS. "Culture in IS" refers to at least 4 meanings: national 
cultures, corporate culture, cultural industries and "Internet culture".

  * "National cultures" refers to effect that national cultures and
    ethnic cultures have on the Internet and online behavior such as use
    of social media or buying behavior on e-commerce sites. Information
    and communication technologies (ICTs) have provided the
    infrastructure for multinational businesses, created new cultural
    connections irrespective of geographic boundaries and distances, and
    allowed an increasingly mobile global population to be connected to
    their friends, families, and cultures no matter where they are. The
    issues surrounding global, international, and cross-cultural issues
    in Information Systems (IS) attracted much scholarly attention and
    have been explored under myriad contexts.
  * “Corporate culture” refers to the values and interpretations
    developed within companies are carried out through mission or
    vision, and their relations to information systems. For instance, an
    Enterprise Social Network may be a way to promote a specific idea of
    a corporate culture, but may also fail because it does not fit with
    the beliefs or interpretations of the employees. In a less normative
    meaning, it may also refer to the social capital or the symbolic
    capital issues within companies.
  * "Cultural industries" refers to the use of information technologies
    (IT) in "cultural industries," defined as any kind of creative
    industry that embodies one or more cultures, including but not
    limited to fine arts, performing arts, museums, cultural heritage,
    movies, music, humanities, entertainment, architecture, or tourism.
  * "Internet culture," is both represented and embodied by the Internet
    millennial generation and the awareness of how to leverage the
    Internet and mobile resources.

*Potential Mini-Tracks*:

  * General mini-tracks on topics regarding culture and information
    systems are related for instance to the use or adoption of IS in
    different countries, companies or industries. Specific examples
    includes:
      o Knowledge Management and Collaboration in Global Information Systems
      o Issues in Global Systems Implementation
      o Information Governance and Resilience in Business Ecosystems
      o Innovation in Global Sourcing
  * National culture mini-tracks include comparisons of different
    countries and regions regarding the use or the acceptance of
    different information technologies, but also the common points
    across these different regions or culture. These mini-tracks may
    include criticism of Hofstede, Hall, or Trompenaars and explore
    alternative ways of describing national culture. Specific examples
    include:
      o Cross-national and cross-cultural comparisons of IT adoption,
        use and development (e.g. ERP diffusion and impacts compared
        between different economies)
      o Globally distributed teams and multinational organizations (e.g.
        the adoption and use of social media by cross-national virtual
        teams)
      o Cross-national legislation and regulation (e.g. implications of
        different regulations governing Green IT in the EU vs. US or
        Asian countries)
      o Impacts of cultural values (e.g. on systems use, adoption or
        development)
      o Sociocultural implications of IT adoption (e.g., effect of IT
        adoption on national culture and values)
  * Corporate culture mini-tracks refer to the values and
    interpretations developed within companies are carried out through
    mission or vision, and their relations to information systems. Due
    to the influence of information systems on corporations, the culture
    in the company may change. Specific examples include:
      o Advances in the application of information system to promote
        corporate cultural issues
      o Social capital of the corporation and its relationship to
        information systems
      o Impacts and use of information systems to support symbolic
        capital within companies
  * Cultural industries mini-tracks explore the use of IT in different
    creative industries such as to fine arts, performing arts, museums,
    cultural heritage, movies, music, humanities, entertainment,
    architecture, or tourism. Concepts such as e-heritage systems or
    interpretive archaeology were suggested in the past research that
    now encompasses ideas such as cyber-culture. Other mini-tracks may
    include topics related to IT culture and values that focus on
    occupational, organizational, and societal levels.
  * Internet culture mini-tracks are both represented and embodied by
    the Internet millennial generation as well as the awareness of how
    to leverage the Internet and mobile resources. Specific topics include:
      o The influence of the Internet on millennials identity
      o Factors influencing communities on the Internet
      o Mediation of culture by information systems on the Internet
        and/or in mobile environments.

General: Minitrack chairs will be responsible for (a) promoting their 
minitrack to generate manuscript submissions to AMCIS 2018; (b) 
soliciting and assigning reviewers for manuscripts submitted to the 
minitrack; (c) providing a summary report to authors based on reviews; 
(d) making recommendations to track chairs about each manuscript 
submitted to the minitrack; and (e) nominating best papers and 
reviewers. Important dates and activities are identified below and on 
the AMCIS 2018 website. Those interested in submitting a 
minitrack proposal to the Information Security and Privacy track will
