Call for Papers
4th Workshop on Standardisation Management

20/21 March 2018

Objective of the Workshop
-------------------------
Standards are an imperative requirement for the operation of enterprise interoperability. Yet, standards don't develop by themselves. Thus, enterprises need to carefully manage their activities in standards setting to make sure that standards are developed that meet their needs and those of the wider community.
Accordingly, this WS will look at managerial issues of standardisation for interoperability. Its first objective is to contribute to the identification of best-practices in organisational standardisation management. This becomes increasingly important especially in the light of the emerging smart applications and smart communication infrastructures - think e.g. Smart Manufacturing and Smart Cities for the former and the internet of Things (IoT) for the latter. These are developments with huge technical, economic and social and ramifications and those who lead standardisation today are likely to also be in the driving seat when it comes to the large-scale commercialisation of these technologies.

Proposed Topics (this is a non-exclusive list)
---------------
* Management approaches to corporate standardisation;
* Standards for inter- and intra-organizational information flow;
* Managing Standardisation of smart systems (e.g. Industry 4.0) and
  infrastructures (IoT and Cyber-Physical Systems);
* The individual in standards setting - selection, training, motivation;
* The European legal system and consortium standards.

Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Original (unpublished) papers not exceeding 6 pages are solicited. A paper template may be found at
http://iesa2018.ipk.fraunhofer.de/fileadmin/user_upload/IESA2018/Documents/templates.zip.
All papers will undergo a double blind peer-review process. Accepted papers will be included in the workshop proceedings, to be published by ISTE-Wiley Publications, UK. Particularly good papers will be considered for inclusion in the International Journal on Standardization Research (IJSR).
All submissions (in .doc/.docx/.rtf format) should be sent to:
