The Department of Business and Public Administration at the University of Cyprus accepts applications for a full or part-time position as Special Scientist for Research in the research project entitled "Peer effects and Habit Formation in Social Networks." The duration of the contract is 6 months, with possibility of renewal until 18 months.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of the special scientist are the collection of information, data analysis, planning for studies aimed at high quality research and the promotion of its results in international scientific journals and conferences.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

        •The candidates should hold a Master Degree in Data Analysis or Statistics or Informatics or related field.

  -The candidates should have very good knowledge of statistical data analysis software packages and good knowledge of programming language (e.g. R, MATLAB, etc.).

-The candidates should have very good knowledge of the English language.

-Integrity, confidentiality, organizational and administrative capacity, responsibility, teamwork, initiative and good judgment.

- High academic performance and interest in research.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / ADVANTAGES:

  -PhD in a relevant field will be considered as an advantage.

-Previous relevant experience will be considered as an advantage.

- Knowledge of programming and/or software development will be considered as an advantage.

- Knowledge of econometric methods will be considered as an advantage.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is on a contract basis of 6 months, which may be renewable up to 18 months. Pending funding confirmation, the anticipated start date for this position is the 15th of February 2018 or earlier. The monthly salary depends on the candidate’s qualifications and experience and is estimated around €1500. Employee and employer contributions will be deducted from this amount. The position does not include 13th salary bonus or medical insurance coverage.
