The School of Business and Economics at the University of Münster, Germany,
invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Juniorprofessur) in IT
Security (salary level W1) at the Department of Information Systems.

The Department of Information hosts the European Research Center for
Information Systems, a global network of more than 25 research institutions.
Our mission is to contribute to research at an international level and to
work closely with practice (industry, public admin) as a way of engaging
with the field of research but also to ensure applicability and transfer of
results. 

Faculty at the IS department have a background in Computer Science, IS,
Statistics, Management, or Engineering. Current research topics include
interdisciplinary, socially relevant topics, such as: Crisis Management,
eGovernment, Electro mobility, Propaganda in social media, E-Health, Data
science, Mobile Computing, Gender balance.

 

This position comes with the option for tenure track, namely, the
opportunity to qualify for a full professorship in the German-speaking
university system. The appointment is initially for three years with the
possibility of extension for another three years after a successful
evaluation. After six years and a successful evaluation, the option for a
full, tenured professorship (salary grade W2) will be provided.

Funding for the position will include funds for a PhD student for at least
three years.

 

Responsibilities

The teaching load is an equivalent of 4 hours per week for the first three
years and five hours per week thereafter. The supervision of PhD candidates
is welcomed. Additionally, this post provides the opportunity to build a
research programme; experience in funded research is valued. Possible
research areas for this position include cryptography, data and network
security, privacy, forensics, intrusion detection and prevention, malware
analysis and organizational and economic aspects of information security and
privacy.

 

Qualification

Applicants should have a PhD degree in computer science, information systems
or a related area. Moreover, applicants should be able to lead a research
group and participate in departmental activities. Applicants should be
fluent in English. German language skills are beneficial but not a
prerequisite.
