Special issue on CloudIoT in Concurrent Engineering

http://journals.sagepub.com/pb-assets/cmscontent/CER/Call%20for%20Papers%20CERA1.pdf

Guest Editors: Pr. Parisa Ghodous, Associate Pr. Catarina Ferreira Da Silva, Dr. Nicolas Figay

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most disruptive technologies, enabling ubiquitous and pervasive computing scenarios. IoT is based on intelligent self-configuring nodes (also known as things) interconnected in a dynamic and global collaborative network infrastructure. The number of interconnected devices is estimated to be more than 9 billion, and it is expected to reach 24 billion by 2020. The essential idea behind IoT is the pervasive presence of things, able to understand, measure, infer, and even modify the collaborative environment. IoT is made of real world small things, widely distributed, with limited storage and processing capacity, which involve concerns regarding reliability, performance, security, and privacy.
In contrast, Cloud computing has virtually unlimited capabilities in terms of storage and processing power, speed, and is a more mature technology. Due to intrinsic nature of Cloud computing and IoT, they both complement each other. Recently, we are witnessing an increasing trend in exploiting use of both Cloud and IoT together; a new paradigm known as CloudIoT has emerged. CloudIoT has many noteworthy consequences of exploiting collaboration and instilling intelligence both in social network, home and work life scenarios (such as smart assisted living, smart controls, e-health prevention, smart transportation, smart cities, smart communications, etc.). Important changes are also expected for business and industry (e.g. smart logistic set-up, industrial automation, product & process automation, intelligent transportation of goods, 24/7 security enforcement, smart environmental-monitoring, green energy, new innovations in medicines, smart networks, intelligent controls in aerospace and aviation, and smart telecommunication, etc.).
The goal of this special issue is to gather the state of the art in scientific and practical research on the CloudIoT paradigms. Authors are requested to submit papers reporting original research results and experiences.
The suggested topics of interest include the following ones, but are not restricted to:
 - Challenges generated by the integration of Cloud and IoT
 - Drivers for the integration of Cloud and IoT
 - Models for the integration of Cloud and IoT
 - CloudIoT in Concurrent Engineering
 - Concurrent Engineering application scenarios for CloudIoT
 - Collaborative Projects implementing the CloudIoT paradigm
 - Open issues and future directions in the CloudIoT paradigm
 - CloudIoT semantics
 - CloudIoT architectures
 - Heterogeneity in CloudIoT
 - Security, Trust and Privacy in CloudIoT
 - Performance and Reliability in CloudIoT
 - Legal and Social aspects in CloudIoT
 - Large Scale and big data in CloudIoT
 - Fog computing in CloudIoT
 - Sustainable CloudIoT
 - Green CoudIoT
 - Intelligent Systems for CloudIoT
 - CloudIoT Services and Applications
 - CloudIoT performance evaluation
 - Context-awareness and Location-awareness for CloudIoT

A committee will review submitted papers in order to select papers for publication in the special issue. Submitted papers will go through a set of ‘double-blind review’ process evaluating their significance, originality, contribution, quality, and clarity.

Please submit papers online according to the procedure and the form of CERA journal:
http://cer.sagepub.com
Twenty (20) pages of double-spacing manuscript, (8.5”*11” paper; font size: times new roman; point: 11) are free to authors. If the accepted papers exceed 20 manuscript pages (each figure or a table is counted as a single page), an extra-page surcharge would be leveled to the authors of over 20-pages paper. Rates are published officially on the SAGE web site.
IMPORTANT DATES
  - Full papers due: February 1, 2018
  - Notification of acceptance to authors: April 30, 2018
  - Revised manuscript submission: May 30, 2018
  - Final decision: July 30, 2018
  - Final manuscripts: August 30, 2018
