The School of ICT at the Nelson Mandela University will host the 2018
Annual Conference of the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and
Information Technologists (SAICSIT 2018) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
from 26 – 28 September 2018.

The Conference Organising Committee hereby solicits submissions in the
following categories: Full Research Papers; Masters & Doctoral Symposium
Posters; Panels, Tutorials and Workshops. All submissions should be in line
with the areas of interest of SAICSIT, which are: computer science,
information systems, information technology, software engineering and
computer engineering (as defined by the ACM, AIS and IEEE-CS).





We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that Port Elizabeth
will be hosting a rugby match between the Springboks and the Wallabies on
Saturday the 29th of September. This might have an impact on your planning

*Full Research Papers*

All submissions of full research papers should follow the new ACM
International Conference Proceedings Series format. Please note that the
American Letter paper size (not A4) must be used.  Make sure that you copy
all the ACM fonts (ACM fonts.zip
<http://www.saicsit2017.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2017/templates/ACM_Fonts.zip>)
to C:\Windows\Fonts on your computer.  Please use the SigConf example
template (ACM_SigConf.zip
<http://www.saicsit2017.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2017/templates/ACM_SigConf.zip>
).

Submissions should be no longer than ten (10) pages. *Submissions not
following the format will not be accepted.* All submissions should be in
English. Only fully anonymised PDF documents should be submitted for review.

Submit your paper to the EasyChair system (https://easychair.org/
conferences/?conf=saicsit2018) before or on 8 June 2018. If you have not
yet done so, you will have to create an EasyChair account to be able to
submit your paper.

*Masters & Doctoral Symposium*

Submissions to the M&D Symposium may only be made by currently enrolled
Masters and Doctoral students. Abstracts of approximately 500 words,
following the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series format
<http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template> should be submitted
through the EasyChair system (https://easychair.org/
conferences/?conf=saicsit2018) before or on 10 July 2018. If you have not
yet done so, you will have to create an EasyChair account to be able to
submit your paper.

Students whose submissions are accepted for presentation will be required
to bring a poster of their research with them to the conference. Posters
must be either A2 or A1 in size, and contain the student’s affiliation
legibly on the poster.

*Panels, Tutorials and Workshops*

Interested parties who wish to chair a panel during the main conference or
who wish to present a tutorial or workshop on Wednesday 26 September 2018
are invited to submit in writing a proposal for their respective panel,
tutorial or workshop via e-mail to Johan.VanNiekerk at mandela.ac.za by 30
March 2018. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
The Organising Committee will evaluate each proposal separately and provide
feedback by 6 April 2018.

All proposals should include the name and affiliation of the proposer and
an abstract of between 500 and 1000 words as well as

   - for panels: a list of proposed panel members and their affiliations;
   - for tutorials and workshops: the aim of the tutorial/workshop, a
   tentative programme, possible speakers and the expected outcomes.
