POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS DATA SCIENCE AND DIGITAL ANALYTICS
Postdoctoral positions in data science and digital analytics with focus on information systems and statistics, are available under the joint supervision of Dr. Paul Pavlou and Dr. Edoardo Airoldi.
We are seeking outstanding postdoctoral candidates with a strong interdisciplinary background across information systems and other quantitative business disciplines, economics and game theory, statistics and computer science. Potential projects include: (A) design and analysis of digital experiments involving network data; (B) sampling, modeling and inference with social network data; (C) confirmatory and causal analyses in complex observational studies, with a time, space, and/or network component; (D) financial technology (FinTech), crowdfunding, and emerging technologies.
The ideal project for this position is to develop and apply new quantitative approaches to important problems. Areas of special interest include social media platforms; social and economic networks; discrete choice models, equilibrium models, and co-evolution models; MOOCs and online education; FinTech and other emerging technologies.
More details on recent research are available online:

This joint research effort offers a highly energetic environment for working on a wide range of challenging methodological problems in data science, information systems, statistics, and other areas. We work closely with collaborators at other universities (e.g., Columbia, MIT, Stanford, the Broad Institute, University of Chicago, Yale) and industry (e.g., Amazon, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Uber) to identify and address problems for which a solution would have a substantial impact in the world. Postdocs will contribute to the data science initiative currently in place at Temple University, primarily based in the Fox School of Business.
The ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of one or more areas of statistics and machine learning, game theory, and a strong track record of research in quantitative methods, with interests toward applications in business disciplines, computational social science, or in the computer and information sciences, evidenced by high quality publications; be able to communicate and collaborate with student/postdocs and external PIs; and be able to carry out research and develop ideas independently. Programming skills (e.g., SQL, R, Python) are also required.
Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
HOW TO APPLY. Applications should include: (a) cover letter; (b) full curriculum vitae; (c) brief research statement; (d) evidence of excellence in research; (e) the names and contact info of three references. Please send all materials to: Dr. Paul A. Pavlou at pavlou at temple.edu<mailto:pavlou at temple.edu> and Dr. Edoardo M. Airoldi at airoldi at fas.harvard.edu<mailto:airoldi at fas.harvard.edu>.
