Junior Faculty Positions in Information Systems (IS)

Description:
The faculty of IT is seeking qualified applicants for 1-4 junior faculty positions.  The University of Jyväskylä system systems has three levels: 1) Assistant professor (also called as post-doctoral research fellow)-> 2) Associate professor-> 3) Professor.

We have now opening at the level 1. The Finnish title of the position is “tutkijatohtori”. Starting date is 2018, the position is up to four years. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in IS or a closely related discipline, and a demonstrated capability for research excellence and high quality teaching.  The selected candidates will be expected to publish in the Basket of 6(8) IS journals, such as MISQ, ISR, JAIS, JMIS, EJIS and ISJ. The positions are subject to final budgetary approval by the University.

The teaching load is attractive: typically one per whole academic year.
Moreover, we match the teaching with the competences and interests of the faculty members.

About the Faculty (School) of IT

The Faculty of IT has strong research areas in Scientific Computing and Information Systems.Cyber security is one of the strategic profiling areas of the university of Jyväskylä.

IS Faculty members have published their research in leading Information Systems journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research,Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, and others. Faculty members hold editorial positions in reputable IS journals. The department has very strong connections to industry. Data collection opportunities with companies are outstanding.

According to the Finnish law, non-native faculty members can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. Good language skills in English are required.
