*Mission or Goal of Unit*

The mission of the Business School’s Department of Information Systems is
to ensure that faculty, students, and staff have the information technology
tools and infrastructure necessary to carry out the school’s strategic plan
and the university’s goals as they relate to the Quest for Distinction. The
department prepares students by providing resources to enrich their
educational experiences that lead to lifelong learning and successful
careers. Our education is firmly grounded in technology, interdisciplinary
teamwork and global perspectives. Essential to achieving this mission is
striving to excel in teaching and scholarly research and to build
effective, value-based relationships with the external community.

*Position Responsibilities*

This position will support both the teaching and research mission of the
Information Systems Department. Preferred areas of research and teaching
expertise include: cyber-security, data analytics, e-commerce, systems
analysis and design, data communication/networking, database systems,
information technology management, application web development,
programming, or mobile technology. Other specialty areas related to
information technology will be considered. The applicant must have
excellent oral and written communication skills. Responsibilities include
teaching courses in Information Systems at the advanced undergraduate and
master’s levels. Faculty member will be expected to successfully conduct
high-quality scholarly research where the output of such research is
presented in refereed peer reviewed journals of high caliber. Faculty
member is expected to establish a nationally recognized research program
with a record of publication in refereed journals. External funding of
research projects is encouraged. Successful candidate will be encouraged to
develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the research program
at VCU.

*Qualifications:*

o   PhD in *Information Systems* or related discipline.

o   Excellent oral and written English language skills

o   Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty,
staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member
at VCU

o   An established research agenda, clear potential for external funding,
and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and
expand existing expertise in the department.

o   Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate level

o   Experience teaching at the Master’s, Executive Master’s, and doctoral
levels are preferred.
