*Microbiology-related Ontology Studies*

Call for Papers

Biomedical ontologies have played an increasingly important role in data
and knowledge representation, standardization, sharing, integration, and
analysis. This thematic series aims to cover the development and
applications of ontologies and controlled terminologies in various topics
of clinical, basic, and translational microbiology studies. Reviews and
discussion of challenges and issues related to ontologies for microbiology
are also welcome.

All papers should somehow be related to ontology, controlled terminology,
and semantics. The topics are widely applicable, including (but not limited
to):

- Microbial pathogens (e.g., bacteria, viruses, and parasites)

- Infectious diseases

- Host-pathogen interactions

- Microbiomes

- Host-microbiome interactions

- Diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of microbe-associated diseases

- Vaccines and drugs treating infectious diseases

- Host immunity against microbes, vaccines, and microbiomes

- Vaccine and drug adverse events and safety

- New technologies used in microbiology, e.g., Omics, literature mining,
and electronic health records

- Reviews and issue discussions in ontologies for microbiology.
