Assistant or Associate Professor of Information Systems

The Information Systems, Law, and Operations department within the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University Maryland has a full-time opening for an assistant or associate professor with a special interest in teaching IS with a focus on Data Analytics and cloud services such as AWS. The effective start date for this position is August 2019.

Courses will be taught in the undergraduate and graduate programs, including the newly created Masters of Data Science. Courses are scheduled on main campus in Baltimore, Maryland and at two graduate locations close to main campus. Classes are taught during days and evenings with the added potential for online and weekend classes. Prior business experience is required. Course load is expected to be 3/3 after the first two years. Research expectations are realistic and high quality research is strongly encouraged and supported. An appreciation for the importance of education in the Jesuit tradition is also desirable. Service to the department, school, and university is also expected.

Candidates must possess a doctorate (or be ABD) in information systems or a related field from an AACSB accredited school. Candidates from an accredited school without a business school are eligible. If the doctorate was obtained more than 5 years ago, candidates must be considered Scholarly Academic (SA) by having at least three blind, peer-reviewed scholarly journal publications within the past five years as defined for AACSB accreditation purposes. ABD status or having earned a doctorate in the past five years also constitutes SA status.

Loyola University Maryland is a Jesuit, Catholic university committed to the educational and spiritual traditions of the Society of Jesus and to the ideals of liberal education and the development of the whole person. Loyola inspires students to learn, lead, and serve in a diverse and changing world. Loyola's beautiful, historic Evergreen campus is located in the suburbs of northern Baltimore city with graduate centers in Timonium and Columbia Maryland. Loyola enrolls 4,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students across the Sellinger School of Business and Management, the School of Education, and Loyola College of Arts and Sciences. Founded in 1852, Loyola is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States and the first to bear the name of Saint Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.

Candidates will be interviewed at AMCIS and ICIS and potentially at other conferences such as DSI and INFORMS.
