*Call for Panel Proposal*

The purpose of panels in the Pre-ICIS Workshop is to identify and explore
emerging phenomena related to Human Computer Interaction (HCI) as well as
to offer an opportunity to present broader topics and ideas that are
ground-breaking and perhaps controversial to the IS community. Panels are
expected to engage the audience and panelists in an inclusive discussion
that stimulates interaction and enhances the learning experience with a
goal of moving the topic forward in terms of greater understanding and
application.

Panel topics can vary, but generally they need to touch on emerging and/or
controversial research questions, new challenges, or disruptions to the
status quo of the HCI field. We will also accept proposals that challenge
the traditional panel format by incorporating innovative and inspirational
forms of interaction.

*Required Elements of Panel Proposals*

A panel proposal should include the following seven sections:

   - *Introduction*: General description stating the reasons for the panel
including the goals to be achieved or issues to be addressed.
   - *Issues*: Issues or dilemma to be discussed or debated.
   - *Panelists*: Names and positions of those who will take varied
viewpoints. For debates, identification of proponents and opponents.
   - *Panel Structure*: Description of timing of the session and the format
of interaction among panelists and with the audience.
   - *Participation Statement*: Statement confirming that all participants
have committed to attend the workshop and serve on the panel, if the panel
   is accepted.
   - *Biographies*: Brief description of each participant’s background,
including expertise related to the topic and views of the issues.
   - *References*: As appropriate.

*Review Criteria*

   - *Panel Topic*: Topic is novel, leading edge and invites debate and
   discussion.
   - *Panel Format*: Panel focuses on discussion and not the presentation
of research results; format is innovative and engages the audience.
   - *Panelists*: Panelists are leaders and/or well-published in the panel
topic area and represent a diversity of opinions, backgrounds and
   geographic regions.
   - *Implications*: Outcome of the panel is likely to bear implications
for practice or conduct of research in HCI.
   - *Panel Interest*: Panel seems likely to draw audience participation.

*Panel Proposal Page Limit Requirements*

The panel proposal must not exceed three (3) single-spaced pages. The
3-page count must include all text, figures, tables, and appendices.
Abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
Authors of panel proposals may attach a video clip or similar to their
submission to illustrate the intended format.
