The Department of Management and Information Systems (M&IS) at Mississippi State University (MSU) invites applications for one full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Systems. Details follow.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. (ABD candidates will be considered) in Information Systems or a closely related field. We are seeking a candidate who will conduct high-quality research leading to publication in top IS journals, and will be committed to contribute to our Information Security research focus. Prior research on information security is considered favorably but is not a requirement. Research expectations are consistent with those of an AACSB-accredited, doctoral-degree granting College of Business. Normal teaching load is six hours per semester, and the successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability for and commitment to quality teaching in Information Systems.

Meet with us at AMCIS. Candidates will be interviewed at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in New Orleans in August 2018. Those who wish to speak with members of the department at the AMCIS meeting should apply before July 31, 2018, though applications will be taken until September 7, 2018.

A limited number of interviews at AMCIS will be scheduled - please contact Merrill Warkentin (m.warkentin at msstate.edu<mailto:m.warkentin at msstate.edu>) to inquire.

Our Department. The M&IS Department within the College of Business includes research-active MIS faculty members who publish in premier academic journals, including (recently) MISQ, ISR, JMIS, JAIS, EJIS, ISJ, and Decision Sciences. We offer an undergraduate BIS degree, an MSIS (both on-campus and online), and a PhD in IS. Our area focus is in information security and assurance. Our information systems undergraduate degree program is the world's oldest, established in 1963. Our PhD students are placed in programs such as University of Alabama, University of New Mexico, University of Memphis, University of South Alabama, James Madison University, Creighton University, and Cal State University.

Our town. MSU is located in Starkville, a friendly college town in northeast Mississippi, with good quality of life, low cost of living, mild winters, and diverse indoor and outdoor activities. We are located in the Golden Triangle Region (GTR, recently featured on "60 minutes" for its manufacturing boom), about 2.5 hours from Memphis and five hours from Atlanta, New Orleans, and the Gulf Coast. For more information, visit https://www.starkville.org/visit/ or https://www.msstate.edu/about/starkville/

Our University. Established in 1878, Mississippi State University is a land-grant institution with a large, diverse student population of about 22,000 students. It is a member of the Southeastern Athletic Conference (SEC), with its rich traditions in sports. MSU is one of only 17 land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant public universities in the country, and has over 1,300 faculty. The university offers extensive arts and cultural opportunities and active communities of international students and faculty. The College of Business celebrated its 100-year centennial anniversary a few years ago.
