Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar seeks applicants for a teaching-track position in Information Systems beginning in Spring Semester, 2019 (January 2019). This is a career-oriented, renewable appointment with primary responsibility for teaching and making scholarly contributions to the educational mission of the Information Systems program. The IS program at Carnegie Mellon is world-renowned for its contributions to practice and teaching. Our faculty members are recognized internationally for their expertise and are dedicated to postsecondary education.
The Information Systems Program at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is an undergraduate major which aims to educate students to meet the increasing demand for Information Systems talent in Qatar, the Gulf region, and globally.
We are specifically looking for candidates who will teach data intensive programming courses, as well as topics related to data analytics, data science, big data analytics, and data visualization. Ease with programming and hands-on development is an important criterion for this position.  A demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness and/or relevant industry experience in the field of Information Systems is particularly welcomed.
The ideal candidate should be able to teach a range of our core undergraduate courses in Information Systems and develop elective courses of broad interest to the Information Systems discipline. Carnegie Mellon offers teaching-track appointments at assistant, associate and full teaching professor ranks with multi-year contracts and promotion opportunities. This is a faculty position with a long-term career trajectory and substantial opportunities for professional development. This position emphasizes teaching, student advising, curriculum development, and supervising collaborative projects. Teaching load is typically two classes per semester but varies depending on the faculty member's role in advising and curriculum design and management. Faculty are also encouraged to engage in research or other activities that contribute to the field or to society at large. Senior level applicants should have demonstrated leadership within the academic community and have a significant teaching record. Demonstrable professional growth during the term of appointment, such as research, engagement in the professional community, or publication of educational materials will be required for reappointment and promotion.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or a closely related field is required for initial appointment. "ABD" candidates nearing completion of their degrees may be considered for conditional appointment.
