Visiting Professor of Information Systems

The Boston College Information Systems Department is seeking applicants for a visiting professor position, from January - May 2019. While this is only a one-semester appointment, we do plan to hire multiple tenured and non-tenure track positions over the coming years.

The University: Boston College is a coeducational university with an average student population of 9,400 undergraduate and 4,600 graduate students, representing every state and more than 95 countries. Founded in 1863, it is one of the oldest Jesuit, Catholic universities in the United States. US News & World Report ranks Boston College 31st among national universities. The University's Carroll School of Management offers nationally ranked undergraduate, full-time MBA and part-time MBA programs. The school also offers highly regarded degree programs in Finance (MSF and Ph.D.) and Organizational Studies (Ph.D.). Boston College's 150-acre main campus is located in an open suburban setting six miles from downtown Boston. The University's $2.2 billion endowment ranks as one of the nation's 40 largest.

The Position: The position calls for the candidate to teach two sections of an existing course in Spring 2019. The course can be any one of the following: 1) Digital Tech (core IS course dealing with digital strategy & problem solving using Excel) 2) Programming with Python, or 3) Systems Analysis and Design.

The contract is for one semester and is not renewable. Salary and benefits are highly competitive with both tenure-track and non-tenure track positions at other universities. A research budget (such as to allow conference travel will be provided.). Information about the IS Department is available at:

http://www.bc.edu/schools/csom/departments/informationsystems.html.

Qualifications: A well-qualified applicant will thoroughly enjoy teaching and possess extensive evidence of teaching excellence at an accredited business school. Opportunities for research overlap with existing faculty is a plus but not required. A Ph.D. in Information Systems or significant industry experience are also both preferred, but not required.

The Carroll School of Management is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and encourages applications from individuals who will expand the ethnic and gender diversity of our faculty. Please submit application in electronic form at http://apply.interfolio.com/52987. Please include a cover letter, a vita, contact information for three references, and evidence of teaching experience or effectiveness. Questions can be directed by email to ISRecruiting at bc.edu. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled and will be reviewed, beginning immediately.
