1. Assistant Professor

Illinois State University and the School of Information Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity, beginning August 16, 2019.

Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Applicants with expected completion of the doctoral degree before May, 2020 will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to teach in information assurance and cybersecurity as well as other areas of computing.  Candidates should demonstrate evidence of an established research program related to the technical, organizational, or human-centered dimensions of cybersecurity, or a closely related area and the potential to publish in high-quality outlets.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses, develop a focused area of scholarly research, supervise graduate students, and provide service to the University, College, School, profession and community. We are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated interest in mentoring first-generation students and those from other traditionally under-represented groups.

Salary, Rank, and Tenure: Salary is commensurate with professional experience and preparation. This is a tenure-track, nine-month position with the possibility for summer employment.

2. Endowed Chair

The School of Information Technology in the College of Applied Science and Technology invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, with a start date of August 16, 2019.  This position is in cybersecurity, with responsibilities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advance research in information assurance and security, supervise graduate students, and provide service to the University, College, School, profession, and community. The successful candidate may be eligible for the State Farm Endowed Chair in Cybersecurity, an endowed chair to advance the School’s growing Cybersecurity program. The Endowed Chair will have time reassigned each semester from classroom teaching to coordinate the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues, represent the program to on-campus and external partners, pursue an independent scholarly agenda, and provide leadership related to research and creative activity.  The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the School’s designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE/CD), sustaining strong relationships with industry partners, and leading the cybersecurity faculty in pursuing external grants. The Endowed Chair will be held for a term of five years with the possibility of renewal.

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely-related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to and evidence of both excellent teaching and quality, refereed research in the fields of cybersecurity or information assurance. The School emphasizes balanced excellence in innovative instruction and research.  Coordinating and mentoring undergraduate and Master’s student research is an important aspect of the role. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position. Salary is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package. 3. Director

Illinois State University invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Information Technology. The School seeks a dynamic and collegial Director to lead thriving undergraduate and graduate programs. The Director is responsible for long-range planning, fiscal management, personnel recruitment and evaluation, advancement, assessment, school accreditations, curriculum review and development, and oversight of the teaching and research laboratories. The Director shall encourage high quality research, teaching, and service and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the School’s mission. The Director shall develop partnerships within and outside the University as well as promote the School’s programs to alumni, business, government agencies, and other educational institutions.
