Antecedents of New Recruit's Adjustment: An Empirical Study on Indian IT
Industry

Amruta Deshpande (IBS Hyderabad, a Constituent of IFHE, Deemed to be
University, Hyderabad, India), Ritu Gupta (T A Pai Management Institute,
Manipal, India)

The transition of newly hired employees from educational institutes to the
corporate world thrusts them into unfamiliar environments. The reality
shocks during a new employee's early days can lead to behavioral
withdrawal, interpersonal conflict, lack of work engagement, lack of
productivity, dissatisfaction, and turnover. The purpose of this article
was to explore the antecedents of new recruits' adjustment in the Indian IT
industry. The study considered three antecedents: supervisor support
behavior, psychological empowerment, and feedback-seeking behavior. Data
was collected from 607 newly hired employees working in the Indian IT
industry and was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The
article highlights that supportive supervisors can encourage new employees
to seek feedback and help them to ‘fit into' the organization. Managerial
implications suggest that organizations conduct training programs to make
managers more approachable and available for new recruits during their
early days to ensure adjustment and engagement in the organization.

Examining the Role of Technology Leadership on Knowledge Sharing Behaviour

Anugamini Priya Srivastava (Symbiosis International University, Pune,
India), Yatish Joshi (Flame University, Pune, India)

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of technology leadership
in knowledge-sharing behaviour through the intervening role of internet
self-efficacy and information technology support for knowledge management.
The sample for the study was taken from randomly selected hotels operating
in different regions of Uttarakhand, India. The findings suggest that the
positive relationship between group-level technology leadership and
individual level knowledge sharing behaviour. Further, the results
indicated that IT support for knowledge management moderates the mediating
role of internet self-efficacy such that when IT support for knowledge
management is high, the effect of internet self-efficacy on knowledge
sharing behaviour improves. The study adds value to knowledge management
and leadership literature and provides a way to encourage knowledge sharing
behaviour in the service-oriented industry.

The Mediation of Psychological Capital in the Relationship of Perceived
Organizational Support, Engagement and Extra-Role Performance

Musarrat Shaheen (IBS Hyderabad, a Constituent of ICFAI Foundation for
Higher Education, Hyderabad, India), Raveesh Krishnankutty (Rajagiri
Business School, Kochi, Kerala, India)

Organizations become vulnerable to the loss of the tacit and explicit
knowledge when employees leave the organization. To mitigate this loss,
organizations adopt flexible labor model, where employees are managed as
flexible workers. But, engaging these workers becomes another challenge for
the organization, as due to limited interaction they are less attached with
the organization. Data is collected from 212 insurance agents of India and
structural equation modeling (SEM) was done to analyse the responses. The
results obtained indicated a significant positive influence of perceived
organizational support (POS) on work engagement level and the extra-role
performance behaviors (ERB) of the flexible workers. Personal resources of
employees (i.e., psychological capital) that aids in positive evaluation of
a situation is found mediating the influence of POS on work engagement and
ERB. Present study is among the few studies that provide avenues to keep
flexible workers engaged and motivated towards ERBs in knowledge intensive
organizations.

A Best-Practice Model of University-Students Relationship Development: An
Empirical Study

Raed Musbah Alqirem (Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan),
Husam Mustafa Alnaimi (Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Amman,
Jordan), Ahmed Shuhaiber (Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)

A university-student relationship has been viewed as a key to the success
and continuity of private universities. Although keeping students loyal is
a critical objective of relationship marketing, there is a limited
theoretical and practical knowledge on which antecedents could be used to
achieve this aim. The essence of this research is the development of a more
comprehensive model of university-student relationship that could reflect a
best practice, on the basis of a review of the literature, and the
empirical investigation of this model by using a mixed method of
qualitative (focus groups) and quantitative (surveys) approach. By sampling
students in one private Jordanian university, results reveal that
relationship strength and students' satisfaction can impact students'
loyalty towards their universities. In addition, three relational bonds
(financial, social and structural) can influence students' satisfaction.
Finally, the study indicates academic and in-practice implications within
the education sector, and suggests some future research guidelines.

Empowering CRM Through Business Intelligence Applications: A Study in the
Telecommunications Sector

Mohamed Al-Zadjali (Sultan Qaboos University, Alkhod, Oman), Kamla Ali
Al-Busaidi (Sultan Qaboos University, Alkhod, Oman)

The application of business intelligence (BI) techniques for knowledge
discovery and decision support empowers organizations in different
functions. This article examines the impacts of BI on customer relationship
management (CRM) functions (marketing, sales and customer services) in the
telecommunications sector. The literature found that BI application in CRM
in a telecommunications context is limited but necessary due to the high
rate of competition between service providers and the massive data
generated by subscribers. This study surveyed employees' perspectives from
telecommunications companies in Oman, and results demonstrated mixed
impacts. First, the results showed that implementing BI in marketing has a
positive impact on business processes values, customer values, but a
negative impact on employees' values. Second, implementing BI in sales has
a positive impact on financial values and employees' values, but a negative
impact on business processes values, and customers' values. Finally,
implementing BI in customer service has a positive impact on employees'
values. The study provides valuable guidelines for practitioners in the
area of CRM, BI, and telecommunications to help understand why to invest in
BI in specific CRM functions.

The IoT- and Big Data-Driven Data Analysis Services: KM, Implications and
Business Opportunities

Izabella V. Lokshina (SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, USA), Barbara J. Durkin (SUNY
Oneonta, Oneonta, USA), Cees Lanting (DATSA Belgium, Leuven (Kessel-Lo),
Belgium)

Ubiquitous sensing devices, enabled by wireless sensor network (WSN)
technologies, cut across every area of modern day living, affecting
individuals and businesses and offering the ability to measure and
understand environmental indicators. The proliferation of these devices in
a communicating-actuating network creates the Internet of Things (IoT). The
IoT provides the tools to establish a major global data-driven ecosystem
with its emphasis on Big Data. Now business models may focus on the
provision of services, i.e., the Internet of Services (IoS). These models
assume the presence and development of the necessary IoT measurement and
control instruments, communications infrastructure, and easy access to the
data collected and information generated. Different business models may
support potential opportunities to create revenue and value for various
types of customers. This article contributes to the literature by
considering, for the first time, business models, strategic implications
and business opportunities for third-party data analysis services.
