Dear Colleagues,

There is still time to submit your work to the 4th Post-ICIS SIG Social
Inclusion (SIGSI) Research Workshop 2018 and join us in San Francisco on
Sunday, December 16, 2018,

We have extended our submission deadline to Friday, October 5, 2018, with
notification of acceptance or rejection by Friday, October 19, 2018.

Details of the workshop are as follows:

SOCIAL INCLUSION AND THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE, DATA, AND THINGS

In the 2018 Post-ICIS research workshop, SIGSI casts a social inclusion
lens on the permeation in our lives of digital and mobile media and the
interplay of people, data, and things. We live in a world where we are
always connected with other people and communities, and interacting with
digital and mobile media has become integral to everyday life and routines.
Consequently, it is imperative that we understand the role of these
technologies in individuals’ and groups’ full participation in the normal,
normatively-prescribed activities of the societies in which they are
embedded.

We encourage submission of research ideas, extended abstracts,
research-in-progress, and articles related to the workshop theme of social
inclusion and the internet of people, data, and things. In addition, we
welcome relevant theoretical, empirical, and intervention submissions that
relate to the mission of the AIS Special Interest Group on Social Inclusion
(SIGSI). SIGSI promotes research, pedagogy, and outreach on all aspects of
social inclusion in the field of Information Systems (IS). The goal of such
efforts is to stimulate greater diversity of thought and people in AIS and
the IS field overall, and participation of all our members in a more
socially-aware and inclusive discipline.

Relevant research topics include: winners and losers in a world
characterized by “exponentially growing data and increasingly autonomous
things”; access and opportunity created by the internet of people, data,
and things; the gender gap in the IS field; gender minorities, inclusion of
the differently-abled, inclusion of neurodiversity in IT, intersectionality
of identities (such as ethnicity, gender and socio-economic class),
socioeconomic divisions that impact access to or use of technology, the
digital divide, under-served groups, and a range of topics related to human
diversity, and the “haves” and “have nots” in interconnected digital
environments.

Submitted research can be conceptual, analytical, design-oriented, or
empirical. The workshop will include a keynote address, “ignite” lightning
talks, and roundtable discussions of submitted work.
