The Department of Business Information and Technology (BIT) invites applicants for the FedEx Chair of Excellence in MIS effective fall semester 2019, pending available funding. All specializations in MIS will be considered; demonstrated interest in econometrics-based research and/or contemporary data science and business analytics is a plus. The successful candidate: (a) will have an outstanding research record with publications in MIS leading journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, etc.; (b) should be well recognized in the MIS field; © will have a history of effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; (d) will be effective in doctoral teaching and conducting research seminars, mentoring doctoral students and faculty, maintaining a strong research program and seeking external research funding; (e) will be expected to build connections with the business and academic community, and (f) will also fulfill professional and university service duties. Demonstrated professional leadership in MIS, such as serving on editorial boards of leading MIS journals and playing pivotal roles at the discipline’s leading conferences are desired.

The Department is an academically diverse and professionally active group of 15 full-time faculty members. It offers the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Business Information and Technology, and five graduate Certificate Programs. Minimum Position Qualifications
Applicants should have an earned doctorate in MIS or a very closely related area from an AACSB-accredited institution or foreign equivalent and should be familiar with the US higher education system. Candidates must have an outstanding research record as demonstrated by publications in top-tier MIS journals, an interest in teaching doctoral seminars, the capability to mentor doctoral students and other faculty, and professional experience appropriate to this senior appointment. Serving on editorial boards of leading MIS journals is also desired. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated interests in seeking and obtaining external funding for research.

The College
The Fogelman College of Business and Economics has become a leading business school in the Southeast. Globalization is a strategic emphasis of the College.
