We are currently accepting applications for our Fall 2019 cohort of the PhD in “Information Systems for Data Science”.

Data science is growing rapidly creating a need for professionals who can use insights derived from big data to make effective business decisions. Leveraging the strengths of the College of Management’s faculty, the Department of Management Science and Information Systems at the University of Massachusetts Boston is offering a cutting-edge and flexible doctoral program in this field.


Ph.D. program "Information Systems for Data Science" deliberates on the applicability of extracting knowledge from data in a range of areas such as healthcare, financial services, marketing, and government.



Program Core Competencies:

  *   Information Systems to build an infrastructure to collect, organize, and retrieve data
  *   Mathematical/ statistical models to provide abstractions of the real world problems
  *   Analytics to interpret and communicate meaningful pattern of data leading to solutions


Our PhD in Business Administration program is a selective full-time program that trains students for academic and professional careers. The program covers a balanced combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, focusing on the latest technology and methodology, and seminars to prepare students for tenure-track positions at research-oriented universities as well as researchers in corporate settings.

Please note that we are currently accepting applications for a Fall 2019 admission through February 28, 2019.

Financial Support:
The program is fully funded during the first three years (full tuition credits and a stipend of $25,000 per year). Upon availability, the same support could be available, on a merit base, during the fourth year of the program as well.



Who should apply?

Graduates with degrees in quantitative fields such as statistics, economics, math, computer science, management sciences, information systems, and related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply.
