Position: The School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies (ISAT) is within the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA), Southern Illinois University (SIU) Carbondale. CASA is the third largest undergraduate academic unit at SIU Carbondale, a doctoral research-extensive university. ISAT provides three BS degree programs for SIU undergraduate students - Electronic Systems Technologies (EST), Information Systems Technologies (IST), and Technical Resource Management (TRM). ISAT invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for the baccalaureate degree program in IST. The IST degree program seeks applicants to teach web and mobile application development.

Carbondale is a community of 27,000 and is located 100 miles southeast of St. Louis, Missouri. It is adjacent to the Shawnee National Forest and has some of the most picturesque terrain in Illinois. More information about this institution is available through http://ist.siu.edu/

Required Qualifications:

  *   Ph.D. in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  *   Experience in Android & iOS development, multiple web application languages, security principles, especially pertaining to application and web development security.
  *   IST applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and be capable of teaching courses in accordance with needs of the ISAT Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Postsecondary teaching experience and/or business and industry experience.
  *   Evidence of potential for scholarly research in discipline-related areas.
  *   Experience leading creative activities for students.

Responsibilities: Duties include (1) teaching classes each semester; (2) conducting research in the discipline which will lead to national/international presentations and refereed publications; and (3) serving the university, the profession, and the community. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.

Effective Date of Appointment: August 16, 2019/Fall Semester
