Call for abstracts and symposia

The 2nd Annual Conference

on Fintech and Banking Transformation

After the success of the inaugural edition of the FinteQC'18 conference, we invite you to showcase your research and ideas at the second edition of the conference to be held on 5 and 6, June 2019. FinteQC is a unique annual event that brings together academic researchers, executives, practitioners and experts around the topics of financial technology (Fintech) and banking transformation. The conference's theme is of interest to actors and stakeholders in many fields, including finance, information systems, management, innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, marketing, design science, data science, sociology and regulation.

Recent years have seen the emergence of new business models, groundbreaking technologies and customer experiences that are creatively challenging the financial sector. The rise of Fintech is rapidly and profoundly transforming the financial services industry and discussions about adoption and use these new technologies and the role they play in the evolution of the financial sector are constantly evolving. For example, Fintech start-ups were initially perceived as disruptive, today they are considered more as partners and collaborators in the innovation process.

Likewise, customer experience (CX), is at the heart of the financial digital transformation. For example, large technology companies (Big Tech), such as Apple, Google and Amazon are causing a remarkable disturbance in the financial services industry by transforming consumer expectations and behaviors. Financial services institutions must meet these expectations in order to retain their existing customers and attract new ones. The challenges of this transformation are numerous and include: i) the digital optimization of the customer experience, ii) the efficient and responsible use of data while complying with standards and regulations, iii) the improvement of customer security and iv) the creation of partnerships with Fintech companies to drive innovation.

In light of these changes, the FinteQC conference aims to,

· Create a diverse and worldwide community in order to advance research, practices and policies around the digitalization of Finance, Fintech and banking transformation.

· Enable the scientific community to present and discuss cutting-edge academic research with the aim of developing a deep understanding of Fintech and banking transformation.

· Enable entrepreneurs, leaders, practitioners and experts to network and exchange ideas and practices.

Jointly organized by UQAR and Desjardins Lab, the conference offers an intensive two-day program including panels, workshops and keynote speakers. The event provides participants with opportunities to exchange ideas, present original research and get valuable feedback on research-in-progress projects. Experts, faculty and doctoral students from Quebec, Canada and around the world will have the opportunity to network with peers, present and share their ideas in both languages: English and French.

The 2018 edition of the FinteQC conference attracted more than 200 participants from eleven different countries. They attended the presentation of four panels, seven invited speakers and thirty high quality academic research in eight different sessions. FinteQC 2018 was sponsored by several partners including Desjardins, Lévio, Korem, CGI, the city of Lévis and CPA Quebec.

About Lévis and Québec City

Lévis has what it takes to meet your expectations. Only a few minutes from Québec City, Lévis offers numerous places to access the majestic St. Lawrence River and is also a wonderful place to explore heritage and cultural sites, or visit art galleries. There are so many reasons to visit Lévis, and just as many to stick around a while! It has the best view of Québec City, it's easy to get to, and it's packed with great things to do. Whether you travel on foot or by bike, don't miss Parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière or Parcours des Anses. In addition, the trip across the river is an attraction in itself-a breathtaking river cruise onboard the Québec City-Lévis ferry. The two cities make a matchless combination with their shared wealth of sea-faring, military, and religious heritage. Québec City is part of the treasured heritage of the world. The city was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1985, recognizing its status as part of the birthright and legacy of all humanity. Québec is the only city in North America whose fortifications are virtually all intact. Québec is where French civilization began in North America, and it's remained home to a francophone culture continuously since the 17th century. Québec City has put an accent on Amérique that truly sets it apart.
