Call for Volunteer - AIS Historian

POSITION OVERVIEW
The position of AIS Historian for the Association for Information Systems (AIS) is open to interested candidates. Selected person will be appointed by the AIS President.  The appointment will begin May 1, 2019 and will be a three-year term consecutive with council terms through 2022. As the AIS Historian, you will work closely with the AIS Immediate Past President, members and staff to continue the momentum of documenting the history of the association.  The AIS Historian is an honorary, non-voting role on AIS Council.

RESPONSIBILITY
The AIS Historian will have several important responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
*                    Refresh the AIS Historian website and timeline to be consistent with redesigned AIS website.
*                    Conduct AIS History Panel at an upcoming AIS conferences.
*                    Build upon the archives, interviews, collections and efforts started with the founding of the AIS.
*                    Provide support for special projects such as the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of AIS.

SUPPORT
The person will have the full support of the AIS Office. Operating expenses may be budgeted based on needs and performance.   The position is available to participate in the AIS Council Travel Grant program.

BACKGROUND
The role of the AIS Historian was established in 2015 to build upon and continue the momentum of the founding AIS. Supporting AIS Historian efforts acknowledges the importance of this function to the longevity of the profession, the community, AIS Members, and our AIS Senior Scholars.  One of the prior AIS Historians was Ping Zhang from Syracuse University.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Interested candidates should submit their name, vitae, and outline of relevant experience to the AIS President T. P. Liang to the attention of Aretha Wright at aretha at aisnet.org<mailto:aretha at aisnet.org> by March 30, 2019.  Confirmation of receipt of application will be sent immediately.  Finalists will be contacted no later than April 12, 2019.  A final decision will be made by April 26, 2019.
