Call for papers:

Both the public and commercial domains are becoming increasingly reliant on the effective use of the ability to store and analyse large sets of data for a variety of purposes, including real-time decision-making and creating competitive advantage through enhancing their domain knowledge. Accordingly, the extant academic focus is dominated by research investigating how business value can be extracted using such data through the use of big data analytics. Traditionally, this focus has had commercial connotations, however studies are increasingly connecting big data to the public sector, whether to inform policymaking, provide insights to citizen demands and needs, or within healthcare. As such, with the view to gaining a holistic understanding of the role data analytics plays within the public sector, this special issue aims at unravelling the value, risks and myths concerning Public Sector Data analytics. This special issue welcomes conceptual or empirical in-depth research studies that draw on any suitable approach (quantitative, qualitative or mixed, cross-industry comparison).Topics covered include (but are not limited to):

* Big Data for health care, government, and society

* Application of Big Data Analytics methods and tools by governments

* Big Data Analytics and public strategy

* Predictive analytics and personalization of public services

* Public sector data analytics opportunities, barriers and risks

* The role of policy makers for enabling big data analytics in the Public Sector

* Privacy and legality implications of public sector data analytics
