Position announcement: Assistant Professor–Educator

Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems, Carl H. Lindner College of Business, University of Cincinnati



The Carl H. Lindner College of Business, Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems (OBAIS), invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the level of an Assistant Professor - Educator capable of teaching subjects such as Big Data, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Extract, transform, and load (ETL), Data Mining, and Data Warehousing. This includes both undergraduate and graduate courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

•             Master's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science or related field.

•             Proficient knowledge of big data and analytics tools. Examples include Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, PowerBI, R, Cognos.

•             Proficient knowledge of relevant programming languages. Examples include SQL, HiveQL, JAVA, Python, Linux.



Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate in Information Systems or Data Analytics from an accredited institution.  Teaching experience at the college level or significant industry experience with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, MapReduce, Cloudera, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.



Primary Duties:

Include course preparation and curriculum development, delivering course content and leading hand-on exercise labs, holding office hours, grading and preparing assessment materials.  Additional responsibilities will entail participating in curriculum/course development, developing distance learning courses, education-related service activities, such as advising student organizations, academic standards review, and community outreach activities.



Appointment Details:

Initial appointment is up to three years and can be renewed.  Anticipated course load is 12 credit hours per semester.
