The School of Interdisciplinary Informatics, College of Information Technology seeks an innovative, dynamic individual to fill a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Biomedical Informatics with an emphasis in Health Informatics.  The College has a strong foundation in bioinformatics and biomedical informatics field through its undergraduate/graduate programs, extensive collaborations with leading research institutions, and its investments in the Biomedical Informatics faculty.   This position will complement faculty in the college's priority areas in Biomedical Informatics.
The healthcare industry represents one of the most complex data ecosystems today. The complexities range across technical, legal, economic, organizational and behavioral domains. Healthcare data consists of a wide variety of forms and formats and is impacted by an equally wide variety of software systems. The School seeks to attract experts in Health Informatics and Analytics who have a strong understanding of the healthcare environment and how health informatics can contribute to solutions to improve patient outcomes and have the ability to work collaboratively with Information Systems and Computer Science faculty in the College.  Candidates will be expected to conduct high-quality research, actively pursue extramural funding, mentor biomedical informatics graduate students, and demonstrate a strong commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the areas of health informatics and health information technologies.  This position is critical in supporting the many collaborative projects the College has with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, a nationally recognized institution conveniently located close to the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Candidates must hold a PhD and/or MD degree in a Biomedical Informatics or a closely related area.
