Two full time permanent staff – a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Information Systems (A Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position may be considered as equivalent to an Assistant Professor position in the US and Europe)

About us

The University of Auckland Business School (UABS) is focused on being one of the Asia-Pacific’s foremost business schools, known for the relevance and impact of our research and scholarship and the quality of our people, programmes and partnerships. It is housed in the purpose-built Owen G Glenn Building, which provides state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. UABS is accredited by all three of the world’s top business school accrediting bodies (AACSB in the US, EQUIS in Europe and AMBA in the UK), while the university as a whole is ranked in the top one percent of all universities worldwide (according to the QS World University Rankings). Auckland is regularly voted as one of the best cities in the world to live. The city is built on a narrow isthmus between two harbours and boasts around 50 volcanic cones. Auckland is nicknamed the 'City of Sails' because of the great number of yachts that sail in the harbours.

The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is one of eight departments within the UABS. The department teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in most aspects of Information Systems and Information Management/Business Analytics, and also teaches Operations and Supply Chain Management. Our research in the Information Systems discipline concerns the development, use and impact of digital technology on people, organisations, business and society. There are many opportunities to conduct research on the latest topics such as intelligent automation, big data, digital transformation, and social media.

The Opportunity

The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is seeking to appoint two full time permanent staff – a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Information Systems (A Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position may be considered as equivalent to an Assistant Professor position in the US and Europe).

There is a preference for individuals who find overlap or complementarity in research interests with current members of the Department. While all methodological areas within IS will be considered, an interest in and ability to publish in top Information Systems journals (specifically, the “basket of eight” journals) is a key requirement for the position. For Associate Professor at least one paper in MISQ or ISR is required. It is also important that a candidate regularly participates in top IS conferences and is involved with the IS scholarly community.

In terms of teaching, it is highly desirable that preferred candidate is able to teach in business analytics area.
